Joe Mimran’s Barbie look-alike doll even sports velvet slippers
*Sigh* Why must companies tease us by trotting out cult-y items that we want to own, but cannot actually buy? Case in point: Joe Mimran just had a Ken doll made in his image to celebrate Joe Fresh Style’s current line of Barbie merch. The doll has Mimran’s signature hair and is dressed in his signature blazer and open collar shirt and his signature velvet slippers complete with their signature crest. It’s so covetable. And so one-of-a-kind. Boo.

Breaking news: Conan O’Brien looks good in jeggings
Short story shorter: Tim Gunn was on Conan Wednesday night. O’Brien declared that he’d love to do a whole show while wearing jeggings. Last night, he did. The talk show host did a little jig and then later, Khloé Kardashian told him he needed to work on his bum. Our thoughts: Conan O’Brien has pretty […]

Tom Ford (not really) running for mayor of Toronto
We’re heading into a municipal election in Toronto, but one thing people haven’t really talked about is the fate of style in this city. Who is looking out for the fashion follower, the shoe obsessive, the lipstick lover? Tom Ford, that’s who.
Okay, not really Tom Ford, obviously–though we did call it after we saw his new womenswear line–but someone posting under the Twitter profile @MayorTomFordTO. But a girl can dream, so let’s consider the candidate based on his campaign so far.

Behind-the-scenes of Chanel’s very (faux) furry fall campaign
Chanel released behind-the-scenes images from their Fall 2010 campaign on their blog yesterday showing Freja Beha Erichsen and Abbey Lee Kershaw cavorting in the Lower East Side wearing a whole lot of fake fur. Karl Lagerfeld has Kershaw draped across a fire escape in furry pants or across a male model in full Sasquatch drag. […]

Fashion news: Victoria’s Secret sued, Jeanne Beker on stage and Kanye West’s leather pants addiction
Victoria’s Secret is being sued by shoe company Valley Lane Industries for US$48 million. The company claims that VS forced a Chinese supplier, who had worked with the smaller company for 25 years, to end their partnership so that the lingerie brand could work with the supplier exclusively. Says a lawyer for Valley Lane: “Victoria’s Secret has done everything they could to put them out of business.” Trouble in diamond-studded paradise? [NYDN]
But things aren’t all bad for VS. They’ve recently launched a new bra, the Incredible, and to celebrate, Chanel Iman, Candice Swanepoel and Erin Heatherton appeared on Fox & Friends, where they had the arduous task of explaining the new brassiere to two male anchors. See the exchange above. [Huffington Post]

Lindsay Lohan to be denied the use of a flatiron upon her release from jail
The L.A. Sheriff’s Department has said that Lindsay Lohan could be released as early as Sunday, and speculation is already underway about the star’s all-important jail-to-car look. For what is surely one of the most photographed occasions of a young girl’s life, stylist and ballet-flat designer Phillip Bloch already has a look in mind:

Dreams come true: Jeremy Scott appears on Y&R tomorrow!
I haven’t watched my favourite soap, The Young & the Restless, in years (as in, when Christine Blair was still Cricket), but I’ll be setting my PVR tomorrow for New York designer Jeremy Scott‘s trip to Genoa City. There are no details, other than this photo and the news that Scott will portray a designer–an […]

Amber Rose dresses like a speed-skating statuette at Chanel Haute Couture. Do you like her outfit?
Kanye West paramour Amber Rose is not known for dressing conservatively and indeed, her parade of Men’s/Couture Week outfits have been designed to very specifically not blend in. There was the head-to-toe fur at Louis Vuitton’s men’s show, a furry LV muff at the Dior Homme show that inspired many a “muff diving” reference, and […]

It’s been a banner week for fashion on The Martha Stewart Show: First Tom Ford and yesterday, Roberto Cavalli. Michael Bay mixes models, helicopters and explosions in his Victoria’s Secret ad
Few things leave us at a loss for words, but this Michael Bay-shot action movie Victoria’s Secret commercial really and truly does. But let’s try: Helicopters. Explosions. Heavy metal. Circus. Knife throwing. Mansion filled with wind. Classic cars. Spiral staircase in the desert.
Wow.
