There is something annoyingly intriguing about a family full of famously talented individuals. We’ve seen it with the Jacksons, the Kennedys, the Coppolas and on the other side of the pond, it’s the McCartneys.

As the daughter of legendary Beatle Paul McCartney, Mary McCartney has been surrounded by the who’s who of the entertainment world from a young age. When she decided to become a photographer in her 20s, her collection of noteworthy friends and acquaintances came in handy as she dove into the world of portraiture. However, it’s not simply the famed subjects of McCartney’s images that grab our attention, but the way in which she encourages them to appear relaxed, producing an intimate result. Many of these striking photos can be seen at McCartney’s new show entitled Developing. The show, adopting the format of a mid-career retrospective, opens May 9 in Yorkville’s trendy Izzy Gallery.
