They said/We said: Nicki Minaj and Prince will be performing at Versace for H&M launch next week
In a merging of all things wonderful, we are thrilled to report that the musical guests at the Versace for H&M launch in New York on Tuesday night will be none other than Nicki Minaj and Prince. The equally flamboyant performers are just a hint of what amazingness we’re in store for, and if H&M’s last blowout fashion show was any indication, we’re in for a three-pronged treat. Seriously. If a duet of “Super Bass” or “Purple Rain” actually happens, we just might explode.

Mix Master: Parisian DJ Michel Gaubert sets the soundtrack for fashion’s most extravagant spectacles
By Laura deCarufel
Michel Gaubert has a laugh that makes you want to get him alone with a gin and tonic and a confidentiality vow, and ask him to dish about his three decades in the fashion world. Rarely in the spotlight but always in the vanguard (and on the guest list), Gaubert is an insider’s insider, the style set’s most trusted DJ. He’s partied with Thierry Mugler and Jerry Hall, collaborated with Longchamp, and created runway soundtracks for power houses such as Balenciaga, Dries Van Noten and—most notably and consistently—for Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel.

FASHION plates: Purple Rain
By Randi Bergman and Jordan Porter
Spring’s runway was a technicolour dream of sun-soaked yellows, fiery reds, brilliant blues, and everything in between. With so many vibrant hues to choose from, there’s no excuse for April showers to make us the least bit dreary. One of our biggest colour crushes for the season is purple, from aubergine to plum to magenta and mauve. You name it, and we heart it just as much as Prince did. When it pours, you can bet that we’ll be sporting a splashy shade of purple rain… gear.

Fashion news: Gaga crashes McQueen show, LiLo’s leggings winner and Chanel’s barnyard
When Lady Gaga announced, via Twitter, that Alexander McQueen would premiere her new single at his Spring 2010 show, streamed live yesterday afternoon, the swarm crashed the servers and we all ended up watching the show in choppy slo-mo. All the better to catch a glimpse of the 10-inch heels. [The Cut]
The Chanel show spectacle had it all: Prince, barnyard chic clothing, models romping in the hay, Uncle Karl, and a show-stealing performance by Lily Allen. [Guardian]

Daily reads: Designer sex symbols, Cavalli sells and fake Loubs in real boxes
A round-up of “hotties” from the design world. Unecessary, but welcome. [Fabsugar]
We turn around for one second to shudder at LiLo’s possible move to Ungaro and Max Azria goes and does a line for Walmart with Miley Cyrus. [The Cut]
Yes, the louboutinmail.com Loubs are fakes. But they come in a real box. Because you definitely buy Loubs for the box. [The Cut]
