Photography by Mauricio Calero See the shots from On The Run in Toronto »
For those who remember dressing up to go see The Backstreet Boys because obviously they’d scoop you out from the crowd just to compliment your outfit, you’ll understand the supreme need for fans to dress up for Beyoncé and Jay-Z. The duo’s co-billed On The Run tour hit Toronto last night and as predicted, it was epic. Even with the dueling Lady Gaga concert next door at the ACC, the city’s (Skydome) Rogers Centre was ablaze with fans styled to the nines in #Flawless merch and Beyoncé-inspired outfits. See our favourite looks from outside, shot just before the Carters gave it up like not many other couples can.

14 clever, new ways to layer inspired by street style’s hottest stars
Photography by Peter Stigter Summertime might seem like an odd time to broach the topic of layers but hear us out. Unlike winter when the weather ranges from cold to colder and your winter boots and leather leggings are a safe bet, summer can be a bit tricky when it comes to outfit planning. Cold nights with days ranging between sweltering and monsoon-like or downright chilly, layers seem to be the perfect answer to our everyday wardrobe conundrums. Layering up our wardrobe is going to be our secret weapon when it comes to standing out, practically, this season.
We’re talking about new ways to pile on the clothes, like the ultra-inventive dress over pants look or the complicatedly chic skirt, over jeans, over a shirt. It’s all about layering up your pieces in new ways, affording you endless options. So unlike Rihanna’s CDFA barely-there dress, less is not more this time around—more is more.

World Pride Week 2014: 43 photos from Toronto’s biggest summer event
Photography courtesy of Green Space See the shots from World Pride Week 2014 »
World Pride Week 2014 is officially over and we’re missing it already. The 10-day-long event was the biggest one yet, and of course, the week came to a close with Sunday’s epic parade, which saw its fair share of water guns, rainbow flags and incredible costumes. The delightfully sun-drenched parade involved over 12,000 participants this year (more than double the number from 2013’s closing event!).
Pride Week wouldn’t be complete without some amazing street style, and Toronto didn’t disappoint (does it ever?). Check out 43 snaps of the city’s finest from Pride Week 2014.

Snapped by Tommy Ton: “Something new, something borrowed, something used!”
“I remember moments based specifically on outfits, and when I was thinking about what photo would be perfect for this time of year, this image of Ece Sukan immediately came up. It’s from a couple of years ago in Milan, but when an outfit stands out in your mind, I think it stands the test […]

Underground Pizza Party: 20 street style snaps of hot babes (and Macauley Culkin!) eating pizza during NXNE
Photography by Jenna Marie Wakani Underground Pizza Party pics »
If you had told me back in the early ‘90s that, one day, I’d be at a pizza party hosted by Macauley Culkin, I would have never believed you. And then, obviously, I’d have done this. Well, this very far-flung fantasy came true last Friday when the actor-turned-singer hit Toronto to perform as part of NXNE 2014 with his band Pizza Underground. Just as the name implies, the band exclusively covers The Velvet Underground but replaces lyrics with pizza-related references (“Stephanie Says” is now “Papa John Says,” for example). So, there we were on a sunny Friday afternoon, eating pizza while being serenaded by Culkin and his band, all the while scoping for outfits on the appropriately dressed guests. Local pizza-enthusiast Natalie Petozzi (she just launched a pretty epic pizza blog) went so far as to wear a pizza sash while snacking on the deep-dish delight. Safe to say, it was a pretty epic way to start off the weekend.

Chatting with 12 real-life mermaids at Coney Island’s annual Mermaid Parade
Photography by Taylor Hill/WireImage Meet the Coney Island Mermaid Parade mermaids »
Real mermaids! On the boardwalk! Can it be? Well, almost. This past weekend, the 32nd annual Mermaid Parade hit Coney Island, just in time for the summer solstice in New York. A seemingly infinite number of mythological sea creatures (1,500+ to be exact) flooded the city’s Surf Avenue and famous boardwalk, as girls in seashell bras and similarly dressed onlookers showed off their wave-ready craftiness.
We fought through all the shells, clams and deep sea crowds to chat with some of the parade’s most decked out mermaids. Who knew they’d have so much to say about beauty and style?

Is it just us, or does North by Northeast just get better and better every year? This year’s nine-day Toronto takeover brought hip titans like Sleigh Bells, Juicy-J, Spoon and St. Vincent to venues as varied as a private backyard to a makeshift pizza party (but more on that later). Similarly, NXNE 2014 fashion was seriously on point, with music lovers stepping it up in asymmetrical skirts, ugly chic platform Birks and with pastel-dyed dos. In these photos shot in and around one of NXNE 2014’s biggest stages, Yonge-Dundas Square, we spy stylish summer lovin’ at its best, from actual make-outs to just really good fashion.

Field Trip 2014: 54 stylish shots from the start of music festival season in Toronto
Photography by Stefania Yarhi See the shots from Field Trip music festival in Toronto »
Festival season had its official Canadian start this weekend, as the second annual Field Trip music festival hit Toronto with a series of cacophonous bangs. Run by indie label Arts & Crafts, the two-day festival brought together homegrown darlings and international favourites like Interpol, The Kills, Austra, Washed Out, Cvrches and The Constantines. As is a now two-year tradition, local gods Broken Social Scene closed out the weekend with a 46-person set, as the crowd didn’t let the rain spoil the lively mood.
In what had to be the most perfect weather day of the year so far, Saturday’s almost 30 degree high had festivalgoers making use of the skin-baring assets of shorty short jorts, crop tops (with this season’s update: the thin strap) and protective oversized hats. In stark contrast, Sunday’s drizzle had attendees piling on the waterproof layers and creative makeshift ponchos out of colourful woven blankets.

Photography by Ania Boniecka and Tyler Stalman See the epic street style from Seoul »
In the place where skincare easily outnumbers fashion in the retail sector, Koreans really know how to put together a killer outfit. Recently, photographers Ania Boniecka and Tyler Stalman headed to South Korea to capture, amongst many amazing things, the street style game in Seoul. Vibrant, whimsical and always perfectly-balanced, the city’s inhabitants seem unanimously well dressed. Street Style, Calgary: 19 shots of construction workers, office dwellers and cool kids
Photography by Ania Boniecka and Tyler Stalman See the street style from Calgary »
While the streets outside fashion week are always littered with head-to-toe statements, reality is such that fashion is much more functional day to day. Work in construction? Your wardrobe is likely going to consist of toughed up basics. Nine to five office dweller? A brightly hued tie might just be the only form of expression you’ve got. That being said, function can often be amped up, especially in the warmer months.
Globetrotting photographers Ania Boniecka and Tyler Stalman returned to their hometown to snap some everyday street style in and around Calgary—a winning smile seems trending across the board.
