In an era when runway show livestreams, tweets from the front row and instant backstage beauty coverage is considered all part of fashion week, anyone with a good internet connection can feel like they’re in the tents, experiencing it first hand. But there are still a few mysteries to be discovered in the before and after moments of a big show—and, thanks to Toronto-based photographer Nathan Cyprys, we’re sharing them with you! While the rest of us were split between street style posing and watching models come down the runway at World MasterCard Fashion Week, Cyprys was backstage, documenting the last-minute frenzy of show prep at Sid Neigum, Klaxon Howl and Matthew Gallagher. Men’s fashion was given some much-needed attention this season at World Mastercard Fashion Week, as a handful of shows were dedicated to style-enlightened gentleman. In Toronto, we saw a range of menswear styles that were worthy of coveting—from modern contemporary at Thomas Balint to the bespoke luxury at Christopher Bates, we’ve compiled the highlight menswear shows from this fashion week for your viewing pleasure.

The Bay makes a Blanket Statement with ten Canadian designers
Back in October, we told you about the Bay’s new line of Canadiana–The Hudson’s Bay Company Collection–the brings canoes, paddles and point blankets together with collaborations with Canadian fashion names such as Pink Tartan, Harricana and Virginia Johnson. The line launched Tuesday night at a packed cocktail party where guests noshed on de rigueur nouveau comfort food–grilled cheese sandwiches with homemade ketchup, potatoes with bison tartare and maple syrup poured over freezer-made snow. The big attraction of the evening was the official unveiling of ten one-of-a-kind coats–together dubbed The Blanket Statement–that the Bay commissioned from a group of Canadian designers who played with the iconic point blanket.
