  • Sundance: Day one

The narrow streets of Park City are jammed with luxury SUVs, rented by visiting captains of the film industry. The shops and restaurants of Main Street have been emptied and converted into a strip of temporary “lounges” carrying the names of Skyy Vodka and Microsoft. Pedestrians consist of conspicuous black-clad journalists charging down the street, often overheard on their Blackberries saying “We’ll touch base,” while celebrities, including Kirsten Dunst, Josh Hartnett, Paris Hilton and Matthew McConaughey, roam the main drag in designer alpine gear—making Main Street the best place to hang out and star-gaze.

  • Party all the time

On a chilly night, the Sexy in the City party steamed up the holiday scene on December 13. With other high-profile parties taking place the same night (such as the madly talked about CTV Holiday Christmas party), Sexy in the City, sponsored by Ford Models and L’Oréal, was the first stop of the night for many.

  • Rockin’ Friday night

With a slew of holiday parties either postponed or not attended because of other holiday parties, this fashionable girl could not pass up the chance to check out the soon-to-be-happening Tattoo Rock Parlour on Queen West. For the upscale rock crowd, the venue has VIP booths, a stage for live bands (Dragonette are set to play there on New Year’s Eve), a comfy downstairs bar where we ran into Tanya Kim from eTalk Daily and PR man about town Kevin Pennant, and a tattoo parlour with an artist at the ready until 2 a.m. Good or bad idea? It’s up to you.

  • ‘Tis the Season

With the holidays fast approaching, this fashionable girl has been hitting the scene. It has been quite a busy week, kittens, beginning on Friday at the newly renovated Windsor Arms tea room for high tea, and ending with the North American premiere of the non-alcoholic drink soon to be on everyone’s lips.

  • A night to remember

November 1st was definitely a night to put into the Fashionable Life history books. With three major events in one evening, the FASHION team was off and running.

First stop was the Sephora store opening on Bloor Street at Avenue Road. Packed to the rafters with the latest, luscious beauty booty, the store also became packed with media types and customers alike. After a short and sweet speech by FASHION beauty director Laura Keogh, guests were left to shop and drink champagne. This fashionable girl had to have the Canadian-made Cake Satin Sugar Hair & Body Refreshing Powder for lighter hues, natch. Also among the loot: cult faves Nars, Philosophy and mineral makeup wonder brand, Bare Escentuals. Note to beauty lovers: Add a Sephora gift certificate to your Christmas list – we already did! The big day is only five weeks away.

  • Episode 12: New York, New York

We open with Whitney in church–no, not a cleverly named nightclub, but an actual church! Whitney’s not there to confess, though–in fact, she wants to turn the confessionals into photo booths when Teen Vogue’s Young Hollywood party takes over the space. As she and Lisa Love discuss placing a runway down the aisle and a band on the altar, they miraculously avoid being struck down by divine lightning.

  • Insider scoop: Our 30th party!

What was a girl to do with the party of the year fast approaching? Why, borrow a fabulous floor-length gown, pull out the mile-long faux eyelashes, grab her best red lipstick and pop the champagne. And luckily for her, in true girlie style, she had her co-workers alongside her to chat, drink, and ooh and ahh over every hair, makeup, and dress moment leading up to the big night.

  • Episode 9: Vegas, Baby

In her opening voiceover, Lauren informs us that after last week’s Jason/Katja debacle, she needs to get away for a while, and so is flying to Vegas to surprise Brody for his birthday.

  • 24 Hour Party People

    By Kate MacLennan

Fashion parties always trickle to a minimum under the August sunshine, but by the first week of September, the bulk of the style community has happily bid sayonara to its summer threads and is eagerly embarking on the important mission of building a new autumn wardrobe. So if there’s one event you don’t want to miss, it’s fall’s first fashion fête, bound to be a gawk-fest of au courant clothing, not to mention a choice opportunity to network and dish.

  • Haute for the holidays

When it comes to making an entrance (or an exit) at any posh holiday party, chicettes everywhere turn to the Fab Five:

    1. The LBD (little black dress)
    2. The bold cocktail ring
    3. The hot shoe
    4. The statement bag
    5. The mini “glam” slam (polish, primp, perfume)

Don’t be the strife of the party–plan your outfit in advance to avoid becoming a part of this fashionista folk tale…
