SAG Awards 2018: The Night’s Most Memorable Moments
They aren’t the Oscars, the Emmys or even the Golden Globes, but the Screen Actors Guild Awards are still worth a watch. The SAGs are for actors by actors, allowing artists to be celebrated by a jury of their peers and recognizing acting as a collaborative art. (Plus, they’re a great indicator of who will […]

20 Amazing Looks from the Screen Actors Guild Awards Red Carpet
The SAGs might be the newer kid on the awards show block but there is no denying it seems like the noblest of them all.
The SAG-AFTRA union “represents more than 160,000 actors, announcers, broadcaster journalists, dancers, DJs, news writers, news editors, program hosts, puppeteers, recording artists, singers, stunt performers, voiceover artists…” and well, you get the idea. Fun fact, the Screen Actor’s Guild recently joined forces with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists with both unions have serious legacies, dating back to the 1930s.
Among other privileges, the union helps negotiates wages and working conditions in order to maintain minimum standards for its members. Individuals can also earn credits towards health care and retirement each time they work. Apparently even Donald Trump has a $110 thousand dollar SAG pension?
At past SAG presentations, individual actors have handed out awards, sometimes from their seats, rather than a podium, but this year the union stepped the entertainment factor up slightly with the addition of its first ever celebrity host, actress Kristen Bell. And interestingly, SAG also entered the political fray, which let’s face is, is what you would expect of a Union-sponsored show.
This year, all presenters were women actors, a decision inspired largely by the Women’s March of 2017, and the #MeToo movement (the presenter concept was announced prior to #TimesUp and the Golden Globes all-black dress protest). And best of all? It ended at 10 p.m. No long drawn out stuff here, just actors keeping it brief.
And with a woman-positive theme to the night, and so many actresses on stage (not just the red carpet) there was ample opportunity for excellent fashion. Yet another upside to this female uprising.

All SAG Awards Will Be Handed Out By Women
This year at the 24th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, all awards will be given out by female presenters. Coming so soon after the Time’s Up initiative and Golden Globes protest, this Sunday’s show will be especially impactful. It’s the first time the awards will have a host too, and that host will also be […]

This New Eveningwear Trend Rocked the Red Carpet at the SAG Awards
Standing out on the red carpet during Awards season isn’t always a good thing (remember Björk’s swan dress that she wore to the Oscars in 2001?), but when it’s done right, it gets filed under #stylegoals. Michelle Dockery hit the sartorial jackpot at last night’s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards in a colourful striped Elie […]

You Can Actually Buy Bryce Dallas Howard’s SAG Awards Dress
While there was no shortage of shocking dresses on the red carpet at last night’s SAG Awards (Nicole Kidman, we’re looking at you), the most surprising of all was Bryce Dallas Howard’s scarlet sequined number. Yes, it looked beautiful, but what really stood out was the price tag – her gown rang in at a […]

SAG Awards 2017: The Best Dressed from the Red Carpet
Not as widely publicized as other major awards shows, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards stand out because the honors are decided on by the artists themselves (instead of the critics) – nearly 200,000 of them to be exact. While we’re pumped to watch the celebs cheer on their on-screen colleagues, let’s face it, we’re […]

SAG Awards 2017: All of the Political Statements Made During the Show
From the moment the show began, one message was spoken louder than any other: and that was to support refugees and embrace the diversity that makes America strong. On the red carpet, The Big Bang Theory’s Simon Helberg carried a sign that said “Refugees Welcome” while his wife, Jocelyn Towne, had the message “Let them […]

Rose does Joe Fresh! Michelle loves bright nails! Our 4 beauty picks from the Screen Actors Guild Awards
It seemed like many were playing it safe on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards this weekend. The dresses were pretty, but there was nothing overtly jaw-dropping, and in terms of beauty the trend seemed to lean towards keeping it simple. Dare we say that the stars (and their stylists!) are holding back until the Oscars? We’ll have to wait until February 26 to find out. But until then, here are four looks that managed to stand out:
Rose Byrne does Joe Fresh! »
Michelle Williams’ bright nails! »
Ashlee Simpson’s short and sculpted hair! »
Dianna Agron’s fishtail braid! »

Oh, how we love red carpet season. It seems that weekly, we’re showered with stunning photos of Hollywood’s A-List showing off like it’s nobody’s business. (Well, actually, it is our business.) At last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, it seemed that this year’s nominees and stars were channeling their onscreen roles, with Michelle Williams in a va-va-voom lace Valentino, Shailene Woodley in a Hawaiian-esque floral-print L’wren Scott, and Emma Stone in a retro-shaped Alexander McQueen cocktail number. So, who wore it best? Check out our top 8 and vote for your favourite.
