Rihanna’s latest shades for M.A.C Viva Glam are simultaneously ‘90s and futuristic and the best
Check out the Rihanna for MAC Viva Glam 2 collection »
Rihanna loves her some green—whether she’s surrounded by money or weed, it’s her go-to shade. Now, the second Rihanna for MAC Viva Glam 2 ad campaign has arrived, and in typical fashion for both the singer and the beauty company, it’s loud, unexpected and stunning. Sporting neon green from (literally) head to toe, the campaign introduces two new products: a Warm Mauve with Silver Frost Lipstick and a Cool Mauve with Red Frost Lipglass. The bold metallic shades are quite a departure from the classic red from the first Rihanna for MAC Viva Glam collection (which is still available, by the way), but if there was ever a pop star meant to front a collection of frosted mauve lip shades, it’s RiRi.
You can get the Rihanna for MAC Viva Glam 2 collection starting September 8 online, and September 11 in stores. The lipstick and lipglass will be available through February 2015. The lipstick will sell for $16 and the lipglass will retail for $15, and as always, 100% of the proceeds will go toward helping men, women and children living with and/or affected by HIV/AIDS.

Rihanna’s new look: Is the patron saint of badassery going soft on us?
See all of Rihanna’s most recent looks »
Rihanna, otherwise known as the baddest b*tch on Instagram, is embracing a softer side for 2014. She’s been stepping out in more than a few mega classy spring looks as of late and while we’ll never not crave a little stripper steez, her softer side equally intrigues us. After all, any good fashion plate must shed her layers once in a while.
This weekend, Rihanna attended Roc Nation’s pre-Grammy party in the opening look from Altuzarra’s latest lady-for-everyday collection. The Spring 2014 outfit featured a silk striped button down blouse that was worn tucked into a three-quarter-length fold-over stripe skirt and paired with white Manolo Blahnik heels as well as an assortment of bling by Neil Lane, Roseark and Jennifer Meyer. Okay, so the top was unbuttoned down to her naval and the skirt was slit to her lady bits. It’s still quite a departure from this this and this (and this).

The star-studded list of M.A.C Viva Glam Fashion Cares hosts and performers has been released!
M.A.C Viva Glam Fashion Cares is one of Toronto’s hottest annual tickets, so it comes as no surprise that the fundraiser gala’s roster for this year’s event does not disappoint. From longtime HIV/AIDS activist Elton John (whose partner David Furnish co-chairs the event with Michael King) to new faces like Sky Ferreira (who we spoke with last month) and Janelle Monáe, the routinely sold-out gala is shaping up to be the go-to event of the fall.
Not only will there be enough musical talent on hand to easily keep you distracted all night (think everyone from Scissor Sisters to homegrown talent like Kreesha Turner), but in true Fashion Cares style, there will be an abundance of amazing fashion as well. Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED2, who are teaming up with legendary supermodel Linda Evangelista for hosting duties, are sending their designs down the runway at the gala, alongside looks from Vivienne Westwood, Elie Saab, Pink Tartan and more. On that style note, it’s worth mentioning that some of Elton John’s most memorable, famously flamboyant costumes will be on display as well as a quarter century retrospective highlighting the event’s most glamorous looks.

Check out M.A.C Viva Glam’s popstastic David LaChapelle ad starring Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin!
Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin have just been announced as the new faces of M.A.C Cosmetics’ Viva Glam campaign—and the first look is amazing. Shot by David LaChapelle, the 2012 campaign is a surreal collage of Martin’s bulging biceps, Minaj on a motorbike, and layers and layers of bright graphics in Miami beach-worthy colours. And topping it all off is a larger-than-life tube of Viva Glam lipstick—the most important element, really, because 100 percent of the proceeds of Viva Glam sales go to the M.A.C Aids Fund. We can’t wait to see the colour in real life—it hits M.A.C. counters February 2012.

Want to buy a piano signed by Lady Gaga?
M.A.C’s newest Viva Glam spokesperson, Lady Gaga, was in Tokyo for the Asia launch of her and Cyndi Lauper’s shades of the charitably-minded lipstick. Her performance was inspired by a Japanese wedding, which of course means a white lace catsuit wrapped with…something, and a veil, from Japanese labels Somarta and Fur Fur, respectively. (Any guesses […]
