Montreal shop notes: Rocker tank
I love the rocker feel of this tank top from Coco & Tashi (cocotashi.com) and its 1920s-inspired fringe. I’ll pair it with dark jeans and motorcycle boots to kick-start my fall look.

Toronto shop notes: The stacked ankle boot

Vancouver shop notes: Charlie & Lee come to Chinatown
Couple Kleah Graham and Josh Michnik boxed up their downtown Victoria boutique, Charlie & Lee, and brought it to Vancouver’s Chinatown (223 Union St., 604-558-3030, charlieandlee.com). With this move come a few new things. Joining the racks are lines like Wren, Shakuhachi, Lonely Hearts and Primary New York (designed by their long-time friend, Canadian expat Cleo Schroeder). They’ve devoted a small backroom, dubbed The Studio, to high-end menswear from lines like Rag & Bone, IRO and Suit. The two even launched their own line, C&L Unbranded, as a means of reselling vintage finds and collaborating with artists and craftspeople.

Dedicated exclusively to Canadian and local talent, co-owner Tressa Heckbert has stocked the store with bold frocks by Frank Lyman Design, vintage-inspired designs by Cinder + Smoke, separates by Preloved and, of course, Heckbert’s own label, Sessa Wearables, a collection that caters to the urban professional.

Locals can now head uptown to Centre Rockland (2305 Rockland Rd., 514-342-2872, centrerockland.com) to check out his ruffled and embellished pieces.

Toronto shop notes: 5 minutes with Fidelity’s Jason Trotzuk
Anyone who has taken a dip into Fidelity Denim’s jean pool knows that the label’s founder, designer and president, Jason Trotzuk, is a master of erasing figure flaws. Designed in Vancouver (and sewn in Los Angeles), this Canadian blues brand continues to rack up style points and celebrity clients (Rihanna, Jennifer Aniston) season after season.
