Now, really—was it sporting of the French police to pick fashion week as the time to start their crackdown on drug use in the Paris fashion and nightclub scene? The Paris season started off with, well, a bang, with the much buzzed-about charges laid against Bertrand Hennet, the chief executive of Elite World modeling agency with for possessing, buying and transporting cocaine. Mon dieu! A modeling executive with some disco dust! Quel shock.

Blame it on the recession or the freezing temperatures, but the mood at Montreal Fashion Week was at once festive and dark. Crowds braved the icy sidewalks in their shiny stilettos and lightweight coats to flock to the illuminated Marché Bonsecours, where there were few shows but a good dose of fun parties.

The fashion crowd is just saying no to perfect, dark denim in favour of the faded, bleach stained and wrecked up. (See: Balmain)

Like it or not, everyone and her mother is wearing a fur vest at Milan Fashion Week–and Paris Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld is the mother of them all.

When we asked you if you’d wear Dolce & Gabbana’s (admittedly challenging) extreme shoulders, the answer was a resounding “No,” but we’ve found one lovely who carries off the look with aplomb.
