Coco attacks New York with a microphone
Back in February the fashion blogerati were all chattering wildly about the newly (and now no longer) redheaded Coco Rocha gunning around New York Fashion Week wielding a mic. The Canadian mannequin was on assignment for E! Canada, chronicling her life during fashion’s holy week and interviewing a barrage of personalities. The results, Coco Rocha Fashion Attack NYC, which airs tonight at 10 p.m. EST on E! (check your local listings), are an hour-long chronicle of model mayhem—makeup at DVF, a fitting at Michael Kors, agent meetings and house parties.

Guelph: Stylishly unkempt
If there is one thing that gave me cause for celebration at Toronto Fashion Week it is the return of smoky eyes and bed head. The ‘Whoops, I went to bed last night without taking off my eye makeup and there is no time to shower’ look is the only one I have ever been able to pull off successfully.
I had a chance to chat backstage at Fashion Week with L’Oréal Paris official hair artist Eric Del Monaco and official makeup artist Eddie Maleterre, and get the inside scoop on what they were creating for the collections.

Toronto: Ula Zukowska, Travis Taddeo, Zoran Dobric Fall 2009
“If Prada does it, why can’t I?”
This is dangerous thinking in the minds of less iconic designers, no matter how experienced. Ula Zukowska, a veteran of the Toronto fashion scene, showed among her Fall 2009 collection a series of crinkled garments in rusted colours and stiffly sprung shapes that immediately recalled Miuccia Prada’s much-debated Spring show. (Google if you doubt the claim.)

David Dixon and Barbie Fall 2009
Rev up your air-kissers: Fashion Week officially got underway with the Holt Renfrew media cocktail party. Upon arrival we took the escalators up to the newly-facelifted third floor–contemporary never looked so chic. The walls have literally been brought down to reveal an au courant open-concept floor plan that highlights many of the lust-worthy labels that even those struck by this downward dog economy still covet.
