Can it be? Is this really the final day of Toronto Fashion Week? Say it ain’t so! The week has flown by in a blur of models, outrageous outfits and one or two parties. So to celebrate the week that was we have an extra-large extra-stylish batch of street style pics for you.

The looks on the streets seemed to be a resounding chorus of leather and patterns. Leather baseball hats, one particularly fierce glossy leather skirt, black leather moto jackets, and more than a fair share of leather handbags in a variety of colours and textures. And did you see those waxed cotton overalls? The look of leather minus the sweat factor. Genius.

It can be easy when out on the streets outside of the fashion show tents to focus on the big names and habitual style stars. So it’s somewhat refreshing when we have a almost a whole batch of street style shots of relative unknowns—you can appreciate the unsponsored and unbiased looks for their uniqueness and how their personality shines through.

While there was plenty of statement outerwear, we are especially loving all of the throwback styles on the street. Going back to the athletic vibes of the ’90s and ’00s, an oversized Adidas logo tote bag caught our eye and one, very brave and probably frost bitten, fashion goer bared her tummy in a sports bra and matching track pants topped with a long fur jacket. It’s like Britney meets J.Lo—our teenage style idols in one perfect outfit mash-up. Toronto stylist Odessa Paloma Parker was a playful hodge podge of ’80s patterns, everything from blown up houndstooth to artsy paint splodges to a loud yellow and black plaid wrap. Only a true pro like Parker could work just a jumble of patterns—budding stylists take note.

Yesterday wasn’t without it’s daily dose of daytime fashion week glamour however. One head to toe plaid look kept things feminine with midnight blue velvet pumps and a lacy, and racy, bodysuit underneath. Bonus points for taking slouchy plaid pants off the golf green and making them suddenly covetable. Fancy shoes were abound outside the tents, with several dramatic metallic takes, covering everything from gold oxfords to platform black and gold medallion sandals. Doing metallics in a slightly more low key approach, were two friends dressed in similar iridescent jackets, one in cream, one in mint, both finished with a pearly sheen. This is how you do metallics for the daytime, people. Another great example of rocking high-shine during waking hours, was a stunning black belted jacket finished with gold embellishments across the front and sleeves. The simple silhouette of the jacket, matched with pared down accessories was the perfect way to take metallics from day to night, without going over the top.

It’s official. Toronto has had enough of winter. For the kick-off of World Mastercard Fashion Week, the fashion crowd opted for lighter layers and vivid pops of colour. If we dress for spring, it’ll come quicker right?

Toronto socialite and fashion patron Sylvia Mantella went for a bold orange coat, accenting her ivory and bright pink Mikhael Kale dress underneath. Why go for one bright colour when you can rock two? Stylist Odessa Paloma Parker’s bubble gum pink furry coat looks even more chic when paired with an equally psychedelic clutch. Habitual street style stars Samantha and Caillianne Beckerman were out in full ‘90s kitsch in bright yellow with a ying-yang backpack and a homemade DIY Simpson’s appliqué denim jacket. They glammed up their look, switching out their usual relaxed tresses in favour of throwback ‘40s curls and victory rolls, while fellow blogger Mo Handahu added byzantine blue to her look matching the deep hue of her burgundy jacket. Model Stacey McKenzie braved the cold and went for full glamour in a thigh-high slit dress with embellished mock-epaulettes.

Another day, another blizzard. Despite Tuesday’s mild temperatures and snow-barren streets, yesterday’s freak snowstorm had fashion insiders reaching for their jackets, toques and mitts—anything to keep warm and dry. As you can imagine, with a winter that just won’t quit, Torontonians have an arsenal of stylish cold weather duds ready at a moment’s notice.

Stylist Matthew Chow colour blocked his way into our best street looks, with grey and white accents breaking up the black, and white toe capped Nike kicks, a clever way to disguise snowy shoes. Toronto Fashion Week founder Robin Kay turned up the glam, looking like a fabulously wealthy Russian, in a dark fur hat and coat, finished with a black Chanel quilted bag and knee high black boots. Street style stars Samantha and Caillianne Beckerman were somewhat subdued in a palette of blues and greys, still maintaining an element of fun thanks to a furry purse and stuffed bear. Micah Cameron from Hudson’s Bay and model Courtney Fallow braved the storm, both donning opaque tights and black booties. Blogger Anita Clarke brought her typical spunk and energy to the day; navy printed trousers and a Phillip Sparks shearling collared army jacket finished with sensible hiking boots. At least someone was enjoying the snow.

You would think that after almost a month of Fashion Weeks with intense schedules, endless fashion shows and plenty of travel time, the fashion elite would be running out of things to wear. But the latest batch of street style shots from outside Paris Fashion Week depict anything but. Some of our favourite street style stars were out in full force, wearing their best and brightest, and enjoying all the fashion frivolities.  Clearly the playful vibes from Chanel’s fashion-show-turned-shopping-centre were infectious.

Besties and fellow editors, Giovanna Battaglia and Anna Dello Russo hammed it up for the cameras atop concrete bollards. Just how ADR got up there without rumpling her floor-length Spring 2014 Valentino, we’ll never know. In a coy twist on a virginal long sleeved lace dress, Kate Foley wore a strip of bright red gaffe tape strategically placed as a pseudo censor bar straight from the Preen Fall 2014 show. Several models fresh off of the Chanel runway proudly showed off their free swag courtesy of the label’s shopping aisles. (We’re more than a little jealous of Anya Ziourova’s Chanel doormat…)

Despite North America’s still frigid temperatures, things seem to be somewhat bearable in Paris—that, or the fashion crowd is impermeable to the cold. Could go either way, really.

Yesterday’s styles on the streets showed people shedding bulky coats in favour of quirky sweaters and lighter pieces. Call it the Moschino-effect—ever since its logo-fied collection showed in Milan, graphic prints and novelty sweaters have become the must-have item for Fall 2014. Case in point: Soo Joo playfully sporting the brand’s blockbuster sweater dress and another fashion go-er with the matching chain bag, both with the now recognizable riff on McDonald’s golden arches. Beyond the logo sweater (also seen in a red Carven incarnation) a statement sweater will do just as well. Yasmin Sewell and Miroslava Duma were chatting it up, both in eye-catchingly bright sweaters paired with neutral bottoms. Black sweaters will do just as well—that is, as long as it has a body-spanning trim of fringed tassels. We’d like one in every colour please.

With Paris Fashion Week nearing a close for the Fall 2014 (the week will culminate on Wednesday with Nicolas Ghesquière’s much anticipated debut at Louis Vuitton), we’ve got a pretty clear view of what’s hot on the streets.

Continuing the season’s proclivity for baby girl hues, guests wore bubbegum pink within head-to-toe ensembles, on wideleg pants and on accessories. And on the flipside, fashion blogger Aimee Song showcased a bright shade of red with a high waisted full skirt, purse and ribbon-accented heels. Though the temps are looking much warmer than here at home, outerwear still reigned supreme with inspired takes from Anna Dello Russo in swirling Céline, Eva Chen in metallic Marc by Marc Jacobs and Giovanna Battaglia in an optic print. Possibly inspired by the City of Love itself, stylist Elisa Nalin went romantic in a collared Alice + Olivia dress featuring playful red lips.

After Milan’s colourful and delightfully wacky getups, the street style from outside Paris Fashion Week Fall 2014 is practically sombre in comparison. We mean that in the best way possible. A lack of pastel coats and flamboyant suits just seems to play into that effortlessly cool Parisian style—slouchy pants and sci-fi garb never looked so good.

With all of the blockbuster shows going on, many models were out and about in between shows. Fresh off the Dries Van Noten runway (we’d recognize the show’s dramatic eyeliner from a mile away) Hanne Gaby Odiele was spotted, first on the street and later taking it all in from the comfort of the back seat. Fellow catwalk star, Canadian model Grace Mahary, was feeling especially sassy in leather on leather, creating a good-humoured stick-up with her finger guns. Soo Joo Park was equally playful swinging her coat tails about, showing off her impossibly long gams in high waisted shorts and over the knee socks.

A weekend of fashion in Milan brought out the sunshine and, of course, the obligatory bare legs. With the mercury rising (in Europe that is), the fashion elite geared up for what will probably be another sweltering summer and flexed their gams in playful and unique skirts and dresses.

The look of the weekend definitely seemed to be quirky skirts in an array of bright colours and unusual cuts, with nary a plain A-line skirt in sight. Just take a peek at all of the high-cut front slits, origami layers, with everything from a Joe Cool mini to an ankle skimming plaid kilt. Even Carine Roitfeld’s long black pencil skirt had a playful little side slit. Miroslava Duma on the other hand, kept things chic and simple in a variety of matching pantsuits, each featuring high-waisted pleated trousers and a loosely slung jackets.

When you’re heading to the shows of some the biggest names in fashion, you had better dress the part. And that’s exactly what show goers did yesterday for the Prada and Fendi shows. The streets of Milan were practically a back catalogue of recent statement looks from the two fashion houses, with some of the greatest hits from Karl & Miuccia coming back out to play.

The coveted and desirable Fendi “bag bugs” from the Fall 2013 collection only to be matched by the brand’s latest incarnation of the furry accessory, the Karl Lagerfeld fur bag, designed by the man himself. We also spied an olive greet colour block dress from Prada’s Spring 2014 collection mixed in a thrifty move with a ringed fur stole from Spring 2011. Everyone’s favourite clotheshorse Anna Dello Russo, among others, toted Fendi’s Peekaboo fur bag to accent her canary yellow fur coat, while Leigh Lezark was in head to toe Fendi in an ombré-d layered dress and monster-like fur coat.

It’s no secret that the street styles of a city reflect its energy. In New York, we saw an influx of hood-inspired sportswear and in London, wardrobes took a turn for the eccentric, with quirky high-end touches giving a nod to its rich history of aristocracy and rebellion. So when the fashion jet set turned up for Milan Fashion Week Fall 2014, a city synonymous with polished-not-prissy women, we knew we were in for some refined European glamour.

On the first day of shows, the look du jour had a definite hint of ladylike elegance met with distinct masculine flavour and fun accessories. Prim jackets in a wide range of pastels matched the plethora of equally sherbet hued umbrellas, while tailored separates reigned supreme. Eva Chen shed her wacky New York duds, opting for a blush coloured cropped fur jacket with crisp tailored wide leg pants and light pink shoulder bag. Fresh of the Gucci runway, Anja Rubik wrapped herself in a loose-fitting double-breasted ivory blazer, a fur embellished skirt and a black Gucci Disco bag. If you needed any further confirmation that Milan is all about quality suiting, just take a peek at Linda Tol’s purple suit and buckled loafers—a modern take on classic Italian cues.

If you type “street style star” into a Google search, it will generate over 671 million results. The pages range from gushy Tumblrs and Pinterest boards to roundups on magazine websites to street-style candids by the photographers who’ve catapulted these hitherto anonymous fashion plates into superstardom. For devout fashion followers, the names Hanneli Mustaparta and Susie Bubble roll off the tongue with the same familiarity as Anna Wintour and Carine Roitfeld. Meanwhile, type “fashion magazine editor” into a search, and you’ll get a paltry by comparison 136 million pages that err on the side of the pedantic “how to become” genre and images of Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada.
