Why the Long Sleeves Trend Isn’t Going Anywhere Anytime Soon
As the sleeves-to-the-knees trend stretches into its third straight fashion season, it’s time to delve into what it’s all about. The sleeves in question vary from the tiered Mameluke sleeves at Off-White—a sort of avalanche of puffs down the arms that Napoleonic soldiers inherited from Egyptian horsemen—to the gorilla-sleeved hoodies at Vetements. At Jacquemus, sleeves […]

Street Style, Paris: 30 shots of fashion elite outside the weekend’s Fall 2014 shows
See all Rihanna’s looks from Paris Fashion Week Fall 2014 »
With Paris Fashion Week nearing a close for the Fall 2014 (the week will culminate on Wednesday with Nicolas Ghesquière’s much anticipated debut at Louis Vuitton), we’ve got a pretty clear view of what’s hot on the streets.
Continuing the season’s proclivity for baby girl hues, guests wore bubbegum pink within head-to-toe ensembles, on wideleg pants and on accessories. And on the flipside, fashion blogger Aimee Song showcased a bright shade of red with a high waisted full skirt, purse and ribbon-accented heels. Though the temps are looking much warmer than here at home, outerwear still reigned supreme with inspired takes from Anna Dello Russo in swirling Céline, Eva Chen in metallic Marc by Marc Jacobs and Giovanna Battaglia in an optic print. Possibly inspired by the City of Love itself, stylist Elisa Nalin went romantic in a collared Alice + Olivia dress featuring playful red lips.

Street Style, New York: 50 photos of colourful fur, Team Canada mittens and statement coats at the Fall 2014 shows
It’s been almost a full week of New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 shows and we were beginning to wonder if the fashion elite had any tricks left up their sleeves when it came to cold weather dressing. There are only so many ways you can stay warm and stylish, right? Nope! Today’s batch of street style photos from photographer Stefania Yarhi take outwear to new heights with mixes of colourful fur, dashes of metallic sheen and noteworthy footwear.
Preetma Singh, Eva Chen and several other fashion go-ers showed off panelled fur vests and jackets, all picking up on the colour-blocking trend while staying warm in the process. Warming our hearts, on the other hand, was the abundance of Hudson’s Bay Team Canada mittens spotted on the streets of New York—Olympic spirit is always in style! Alexa Chung looked positively Bowie-esque in a futuristic iridescent coat—while simultaneously keeping it ladylike with a prim purse. Ece Sükan went for an ’80s throwback vibe, mixing a cinched mod leather jacket with a bold gold skirt peeking out from underneath.

Street Style, New York: 52 photos of Hudson’s Bay stripes, spring-worthy layers and ’90s style outside the Fall 2014 shows
Despite the still-cold, still-snowy conditions in New York City, yesterday the fashion set threw caution to the chilly wind and made like it was spring. Breezy layers, exposed legs and bright colours continued to be popular street style choices outside Monday’s Fall 2014 shows, which included Carolina Herrera, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Theory. There were obviously some people who heeded their mother’s advice from years gone by and bundled up—but even then a colourful, strappy shoe or sheer layer helped liven the look up.
In today’s batch of photos, our photographer Stefani Yarhi did a little stripe spotting, capturing two colourful Hudson’s Bay blanket coats in Monday’s street style mix. Also wearing a rainbow of colour was Helena Bordon, in head-to-toe Spring 2014 Prada including the coveted pop art-inspired jacket, athletic shin socks and an embellished skirt. Leandra Medine wore a gorgeous tangerine duster, done in ’90s minimalism with high-waisted denim and an off-white turtleneck and sweater.

What’s in your bag, Song of Style’s Aimee Song?
Since the launch of her blog, Song of Style, back in 2008, Los Angeles-based blogger Aimee Song has become one of the blogosphere’s most beloved. With her penchant for bright colour combos, positivity and long flowing locks, she’s built an empire of page views, Instagram likes and Facebook fans. She’s turned all that into several collaborations with brands like Michael Kors, 7 for all Mankind and now Canadian eCommerce site, eLuxe. The 6-piece capsule collection ($45-$75, eluxe.ca) features logo T-shirts and distressed sweatshirts all emblazoned with “Do Epic Chic” and “VoiLÁ.” “I’m always about positive sayings,” she says. “I always feel like if you’re positive in the morning, you wake up saying ‘Oh my gosh, today is going to be a great day,’ then, everything is gonna be great! And I thought if I was going to do ‘chic’ then I’m going to make it epic, so why not, ‘Do Epic Chic’?”
While Song was in town last week (wearing the new Chanel chain link booties, we might add), we sifted through her Michael Kors bag and found plenty of the bloggers go-to items. They were all epically chic.

Top Spring 2014 Trends: 200 fashion week photos
See the biggest Spring 2014 fashion trends »
See all our fashion month coverage »With the end of fashion week in Toronto marking the close of Spring 2014 show season, it’s time we looked back at all the trends that emerged. As much as the runway sets the pace for what’s to come for the top Spring 2014 trends, the streets play a major role as show-going trendsetters give us the relatable breakdown of how to wear what’s hot next season. Prints take two spots on our top Spring 2014 trends list through those with a painterly quality and those influenced by international cultures. At Hérmes, Rousseau-inspired water lily florals were printed on luxurious fabrics while at Diane Von Furstenberg, dresses and skirts depicting an African wilderness roared. As for fashionable time travel, prepare to keep reminiscing about the youthful 1990s, which haven’t ceased to get reincarnated season after season. Designers like Rodarte, Balmain and Jason Wu have reinvented the decade’s essentials yet again. To help with your daydreaming of long sunny spring days we’ve compiled the ultimate gallery of top Spring 2014 trends as dictated by the runways and our favourite street style stars in New York, London, Milan, Paris and Toronto! Feel free to let this be your guide to budgeting and creating closet space for next season’s must have pieces.

Street Style, New York: 53 photos of style stars (and Barbara Walters!) braving the heat outside Spring 2014 fashion week
Despite the scorching heat wave, street style regulars were definitely into leather on day six of New York Fashion Week Spring 2014.
Many fashion enthusiasts layered classic leather jackets or vests over their summery outfits, but Miroslava Duma and blogger Chiara Ferragni rocked the leather trend by pulling out maxi and studded mini respectively.
The Beckerman sisters joined in on the leather-clad fun. While Samantha Beckerman opted for a pleated black skirt and a Marc Jacobs Mickey Mouse sweater, Cailliane went rocker chic in a Rodarte black and red-fringed leather vest and Mickey printed leggings. Style to spare in duplicates, those girls.
Accessories were definitely making a statement on the streets. From Leandra Medine’s colourful arm candy to a furry black and blue clutch adding texture to a head to toe black ensemble, accessories were stealing the spotlight. Even the much-coveted mini Chanel hula-hoop purse made an appearance.
While the vast majority strutted the streets outside New York Fashion Week in killer heels, flats, sneakers and furry Céline sandals were the popular and definitely more comfortable choice. Even Anna Dello Russo, the queen of statement stilettos, wore leather boots, albeit bejewelled and bedazzled.
