Trash meets class in Jeremy Scott’s surprisingly elegant Moschino Fall 2014 ad campaign
See the Moschino Fall 2014 ad campaign here »
Much has been said about Jeremy Scott’s wild Moschino debut collection, which hit the runway in a blaze of junk food glory earlier this year as part of Fall 2014 fashion week in Milan. Amongst the adjectives used to describe the McDonalds-inspired collection, “trashy,” “over-the-top” and maybe even “delicious” come to mind, but “elegant”? Probably not.
In the just-released ad campaign for the collection, Scott flips that right on its head, with a series of elegant photos starring Linda Evangelista, Stella Tennant, Saskia de Brauw, Carolyn Murphy, Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmerman as modern-day society swans in the trashy wares. Photographed by Steven Meisel and styled by Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, the black and white photos recall mid-nineties Peter Lindbergh while keeping it classy with boucle and Guido Paulo updos.

Met Gala 2014: The 54 best dressed on last night’s epic red carpet
See the complete Met Gala 2014 red carpet »
If reports about Anna Wintour wanting this year’s Met Gala to be more exclusive were true, they certainly did not apply to the A-list. Last night’s red carpet was stacked (and we mean stacked) with just about everyone from the recluse to rising star. Surely, it had something to do with the fact that last night was the inaugural Met Gala celebrating the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s renamed Anna Wintour Costume Center. Maybe too, it was just like the rest of us have been trained to understand: The Met Gala is not to be missed.
Honouring oft-forgotten American couturier Charles James, last night’s event was all about 1950s glamour. Its “white tie” guest-list prompted gents like Johnny Depp and Kanye West to wear tails, Zoe Saldana to wear a recreated Michael Kors bustle and both Taylor Swift and Sarah Jessica Parker to take to the stairs with over-the-top Oscar de la Renta trains. Unlike the sometimes cookie cutter Oscars, the Met Gala is a time to break out some real steez and red carpet queen Lupita Nyong’o did just that in a flapper-inspired feathered Prada dress. Perhaps more Poiret than James, the dress made for some serious chatter from both the “for” and “against” camps. Fellow red carpet queen (and queen of life, truly) Rihanna went anti-theme in a sexy stomach-baring Stella McCartney dress which killed, as usual.

Street Style, New York: 50 photos of colourful fur, Team Canada mittens and statement coats at the Fall 2014 shows
It’s been almost a full week of New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 shows and we were beginning to wonder if the fashion elite had any tricks left up their sleeves when it came to cold weather dressing. There are only so many ways you can stay warm and stylish, right? Nope! Today’s batch of street style photos from photographer Stefania Yarhi take outwear to new heights with mixes of colourful fur, dashes of metallic sheen and noteworthy footwear.
Preetma Singh, Eva Chen and several other fashion go-ers showed off panelled fur vests and jackets, all picking up on the colour-blocking trend while staying warm in the process. Warming our hearts, on the other hand, was the abundance of Hudson’s Bay Team Canada mittens spotted on the streets of New York—Olympic spirit is always in style! Alexa Chung looked positively Bowie-esque in a futuristic iridescent coat—while simultaneously keeping it ladylike with a prim purse. Ece Sükan went for an ’80s throwback vibe, mixing a cinched mod leather jacket with a bold gold skirt peeking out from underneath.

In the Miu Miu Resort 2013 campaign and look book, the model A-team took to a brocade curtained room that resembles a grandmother’s house and, you know, they modeled.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: We spot Kate Bosworth, Allison Williams and a bunch of jumping editors outside Prabal Gurung and Alexander Wang
View the New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style photos »
Today’s batch of fashion week street style photos is a doozy of a style star spotter. Shot in New York (duh), our street style photographer Stefania Yarhi captured the biggest and best outside Saturday’s various shows. Outside Prabal Gurung’s Pier 57 Spring 2013 showing, Yarhi caught none other than former FASHION cover girl, Allison Williams. Looking perfectly-Prabal Gurung in a satin origami-print and pleated white dress from the designer’s Resort 2013 collection, the Girls star looked as if to be fitting into the fashion flock quite nicely. True Grit star Hailee Steinfeld was there too, in a frilly Western-inspired silk blouse and geometric-printed shorts from Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2013 collection. The actresses, however, proved no match for the giddy set of street style star editors including Anna Dello Russo, Giovana Battaglia, Miroslava Duma, Anya Ziourova and Michelle Harper, who burst into one big jump upon being photographed. Could they get any cuter?

Some of fashion’s most recognized faces, including Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell (the definite stars of the show) along with Lily Cole, Stella Tennant, Lily Donaldson, Georgia May Jagger, Karen Elson, Jourdan Dunn and David Gandy, were all clad in seven of Britain’s most revered designers.

Lanvin continues the “real people” trend, casting some seriously fabulous older ladies as fall campaign stars
First Dolce & Gabbana, then American Apparel and now Lanvin have all given their stamps of approval on the real-person-as-model phenomenon, with Alber Elbaz being the latest to prominently feature non-models in his designs. After images of Lanvin’s Steven Meisel–lensed fall campaign first surfaced online last week, the interweb was desperately trying to pinpoint who […]

Apparently we want it: Watch Karen Elson, Raquel Zimmermann, and Alber Elbaz dance to Pitbull in Lanvin’s new campaign video!
Two words you never thought you’d hear in the same sentence: Lanvin and Pitbull (like the singer, not the dog). Well, friends, think again. The label’s fall campaign video features Karen Elson, Raquel Zimmermann, two studly male models/dancers, and Alber Elbaz himself (!!!) dancing through the new collection to the rapper’s timeless classic, “I Know […]
