Trash meets class in Jeremy Scott’s surprisingly elegant Moschino Fall 2014 ad campaign
See the Moschino Fall 2014 ad campaign here »
Much has been said about Jeremy Scott’s wild Moschino debut collection, which hit the runway in a blaze of junk food glory earlier this year as part of Fall 2014 fashion week in Milan. Amongst the adjectives used to describe the McDonalds-inspired collection, “trashy,” “over-the-top” and maybe even “delicious” come to mind, but “elegant”? Probably not.
In the just-released ad campaign for the collection, Scott flips that right on its head, with a series of elegant photos starring Linda Evangelista, Stella Tennant, Saskia de Brauw, Carolyn Murphy, Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmerman as modern-day society swans in the trashy wares. Photographed by Steven Meisel and styled by Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, the black and white photos recall mid-nineties Peter Lindbergh while keeping it classy with boucle and Guido Paulo updos.

Once Upon a Time: The Singapore scoop on Chanel’s new short film
Oh that Karl Lagerfeld.
Turns out he didn’t tell the stars of his latest short film, Once Upon a Time…Deauville 1913, that they would have speaking roles.
“I thought it was going to be a silent movie,” Keira Knightley revealed leading up to the film premiere on the lawn of the Raffles Hotel in Singapore earlier today. Knightley, who plays Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in the lyrical black and white short that depicts the opening of Chanel’s seaside shop, didn’t make it to the party. But plenty others did.
Sipping Singapore Slings and lounging on the rattan chairs: French actress Clotilde Hesme, who plays Chanel’s Aunt Adrienne, Saskia de Brauw who plays Vita Sackville-West, Jamie Bochert, who appears as society muse and patron Luisa Casati, and Stella Tennant, who plays Lady de Grey, an early Chanel fan and pal of Oscar Wilde (his play A Woman of No Importance was dedicated to her.)

David Bowie’s gender bending new video co-stars Tilda Swinton, Andrej Pejic, Saskia de Brauw and Iselin Steiro
Leave it to David Bowie to, once again, redefine cool in less than six minutes. Ahead of his first new album in a decade, The Next Day, the Thin White Duke has released his latest single “The Stars (are out tonight)” along with an epically stylized new video which co-stars Tilda Swinton, Andrej Pejic, Saskia […]

Prada Spring 2013 Ad Campaign: Suddenly those shoes ain’t looking so bad…
See Prada’s Spring 2013 campaign »
It’s been a couple of months since we first feasted on Prada’s Spring 2013 collection, but any weariness of those toe sock/thong shoes has all been washed away with the just-released spring campaign.
Simply put, Prada’s Spring 2013 collection was a whole lotta Japan-meets-sixties look, and it seems that streamlined styling was the name of the game for the Steven Meisel-shot advertising images. The modeling A-list amongst its stars include Raquel Zimmerman, Saskia de Brauw, Eva Herzigova, Sasha Pivovarova, who all pose against stark grey backgrounds in furry coats, hot pants, daisy sunglasses and more. The flatform heels with the toe socks make a re-appearance but have been styled in a way that we know when Fall 2013 street style photos come pouring in, these shoes have the potential to shot day after day.

They said/We said: Karl’s just like us! Or so he attempts to prove in a preposterous new photo shoot in French Elle
Karl Lagerfeld, king of taste-making (or just sharing his unwarranted opinions), has decried “pedestrian-chic” as the new cool in an upcoming shoot for French Elle.
The eight-page spread features the Kaiser tête-à-tête with his model crushes of the moment Saskia de Brauw and Caroline Brasch Neilsen (both clad in the designer’s new, more affordable line, KARL). The fashionable threesome are photographed doing all kinds of normal things: reading a sports paper, driving in traffic, shopping in the supermarket. Of course one can’t expect to push the Kaiser’s cart unless you’re runway gold.
And because he just can’t resist providing a ridiculous sound bite, Lagerfeld took to the accompanying interview to dish on his normal life (or total lack thereof):
On driving: “I haven’t driven since I was 18, and that’s a benefit to society because I ended up in a ditch, without knowing why!” Oh Uncle Karl, one would think your giant collars might prevent you from checking your blind spot!
On le supermarché: “It’s the first time I’ve stepped into a supermarket. It’s crazy—fascinating what one can buy. There’s enough here to easily gain 20 kilos.”
Frankly, we’re not too surprised given Karl’s feelings on food: it’s not allowed! This is the man who will only eat Nobu whilst in New York, who lost 60 pounds just to fit into super-skinny Slimane’s, and who famous declared that food was like plastic to him.
But, we have to ask—what’s next? Karl tying his shoes? Using the ATM? Taking the *gasps* subway? We can hardly wait!

View the stunning Chanel Athletics campaign images and go behind-the-scenes at the shoot in the paradisal Cap d’Antibes
Another day, another creation from the prolific genius that is Karl Lagerfeld. Earlier this week, it was Chanel couture, this month it’s the international KARL pop-ups for the collection released THIS SECOND, and today it’s the ad campaign he shot for the Spring 2012 Chanel Athletics collection. The truly exquisite shots feature Joan Smalls and Saskia de Brauw doing sporty things over the ocean in Le Cap d’Antibes in frothy, pleated, and poofed dresses. Dare we say, the behind-the-scenes shots are equally as spellbinding. Images of a team—which included the Kaiser and Carine Roitfeld, to name a few—whisking through the ocean, have us counting down to our own vacations.

Anne Hathaway keeps us entertained, Kate Moss joins the fashion film club and Lindsay Lohan sells her body for $2.1 million
By Corinne Perez-Abergel
The jury is still out on whether Anne Hathaway and James Franco were in fact worthy hosts at last night’s Oscars, but at least we had Anne’s constant outfit changes to keep us entertained. Which one was your favourite? [Blackbook]
