Milan Fashion Week Spring 2019: Our Guide to the Best Moods, Moments and Must-Have Pieces
Milan Fashion Week has wrapped! With Gucci and Bottega Veneta not there, it was like having a reunion without two star family members. Trash meets class in Jeremy Scott’s surprisingly elegant Moschino Fall 2014 ad campaign
See the Moschino Fall 2014 ad campaign here »
Much has been said about Jeremy Scott’s wild Moschino debut collection, which hit the runway in a blaze of junk food glory earlier this year as part of Fall 2014 fashion week in Milan. Amongst the adjectives used to describe the McDonalds-inspired collection, “trashy,” “over-the-top” and maybe even “delicious” come to mind, but “elegant”? Probably not.
In the just-released ad campaign for the collection, Scott flips that right on its head, with a series of elegant photos starring Linda Evangelista, Stella Tennant, Saskia de Brauw, Carolyn Murphy, Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmerman as modern-day society swans in the trashy wares. Photographed by Steven Meisel and styled by Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, the black and white photos recall mid-nineties Peter Lindbergh while keeping it classy with boucle and Guido Paulo updos.

Gwyneth Paltrow vs. Kate Moss: who was best dressed at British Fashion Awards 2013?
See the British Fashion Awards 2013 red carpet »
Last night, Britain’s most fashionably influential took over the London Coliseum for the British Fashion Awards 2013. A red carpet of elite wearing elite can only be expected at such an affair, but Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow’s looks got our style radar beeping.
The ageless Moss, who was honoured with the Special Recognition award for 25 years in the industry, wore a Spring 2014 Alexander McQueen leather dress with a fur coat. The perforated effect and pleats added texture to the look that was accessorized with a studded clutch, red pout and black Louboutin heels.
Making an appearance to present the International Designer of the Year honour to Miuccia Prada, it’s no surprise that Paltrow chose from the designer’s collection. The dress, a plum and soft pink bodice with a black pleated skirt, was paired with strappy sandals that added to her signature long legs. Side-parted pin straight hair and a rosy lip made for her low-key beauty look.

Chanel Cruise 2014: The celebs, the rich girls and beautiful backstage images from Karl’s latest runway show in Singapore

Steamy Singapore. What better site for a Chanel show given the tropical climate and its enthusiastic shoppers?
At last night’s Chanel Cruise 2013 show, the thatched huts of an old nutmeg plantation offered a colonial setting along with caviar canapés, aged cheeses and iberico ham pulled right off the bone.
Dakota Fanning, Carine Roitfeld and Andre Leon Talley were among the few Western guests, the scene otherwise dominated by Singapore gals who not only love their Chanel, they love it from pearl-drop earrings to flatform sneaker. There were two women in the same striped outfit Lana Del Rey wears in FASHION’s Summer issue, though one was jacketless. I suspect she arrived to find the other guest in the identical look and quickly doffed the jacket to avoid looking like twins.

Once Upon a Time: The Singapore scoop on Chanel’s new short film
Oh that Karl Lagerfeld.
Turns out he didn’t tell the stars of his latest short film, Once Upon a Time…Deauville 1913, that they would have speaking roles.
“I thought it was going to be a silent movie,” Keira Knightley revealed leading up to the film premiere on the lawn of the Raffles Hotel in Singapore earlier today. Knightley, who plays Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in the lyrical black and white short that depicts the opening of Chanel’s seaside shop, didn’t make it to the party. But plenty others did.
Sipping Singapore Slings and lounging on the rattan chairs: French actress Clotilde Hesme, who plays Chanel’s Aunt Adrienne, Saskia de Brauw who plays Vita Sackville-West, Jamie Bochert, who appears as society muse and patron Luisa Casati, and Stella Tennant, who plays Lady de Grey, an early Chanel fan and pal of Oscar Wilde (his play A Woman of No Importance was dedicated to her.)

Chanel Pre-Fall 2013: The dispatch from inside Karl Lagerfeld’s Scottish spectacular
“Dress warmly. Wear flat shoes.” The lead up to the Chanel Pre-Fall 2013 Métier d’Arts show in Scotland on Tuesday had a foreboding tone. The setting was Lin Lithgow, a crumbling 15th century palace that was the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Whiskey toddies, blazing fires and wool lap blankets ensured none of the […]

A complete wardrobe recap from last night’s gilded supermodel invasion of the London Olympics closing ceremony
Among the many highlights of last night’s Olympic Closing Ceremonies, one of our favourites was definitely the supermodel en masse march, a fashion moment that completely cemented London’s role as one of the industry’s capitals. Some of fashion’s most recognized faces, including Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell (the definite stars of the show) along with Lily Cole, Stella Tennant, Lily Donaldson, Georgia May Jagger, Karen Elson, Jourdan Dunn and David Gandy, were all clad in seven of Britain’s most revered designers.

Just released: Givenchy’s Fall 2012 ad starring Stella Tennant makes us want to rave
Now here’s a rave we’d actually like to go to: a dancing Stella Tennant, thumping electronic music and a Givenchy wardrobe. Much more chic than the usual glow-in-the-dark sticks and face paint. The fractured images of Tennant shimmying under a stormy sky in violet Givenchy are meant to capture the electric euphoria of a rave […]

They said/We said: This year’s British Fashion Council award nominations are out, including Erdem, Victoria Beckham, and Kate Middleton faves
The British Fashion Council just released the nominations for this year’s awards and surprise, surprise Kate Middleton favourites Sarah Burton and Erdem (yay!) are up for the Designer of the Year award alongside the always-thrilling Christopher Kane.
Other big nominations include Victoria Beckham for Designer Brand of the Year, even after last year’s controversy started by industry veterans over her nomination in the same category. (But, hey, she can sing, dance, and be pregnant in heels, so that’s got to count for something, right?) This time around, she’s up against Burberry, Stella McCartney, and Tom Ford. (In the case of Ford, apparently living part-time in London makes you a British designer?)
In the Model of the Year category, rockstar and supermodel offspring Georgia May Jagger will battle it out with Chanel muses Stella Tennant and Kristen McMenamy. Meanwhile, we’ve got a soft spot for all nominees in the Emerging Talent category. How can you choose between Mary Katrantzou, J.W. Anderson, and Peter Pilotto? The winners will be announced at a ceremony on November 28.
