Alexander McQueen Releases a Trippy Fungi-inspired Collection
Towering piles of mulch were artfully arranged in a Brooklyn warehouse this week to form a runway for the Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter collection. Creative director Sarah Burton took inspiration from nature, namely mycelium, an underground root-like fungus that connects trees and transfers nutrients between plants. A metaphor for interconnection and community, the theme is also […]

The Alexander McQueen Documentary is Opening in Canada
One could argue that a great documentary is far harder to make than a great film. When you watch a doc, you generally know the subject matter, the storyline and maybe even the outcome. Which is part of what makes the new documentary McQueen (at select theatres in early August) about the late designer, Alexander […]

After This Past Year’s Activism, Are Spring’s Feminine Designs Demeaning or Empowering?
Florals, pastels and diaphanous dresses are often a few of fashion’s spring favourites, and this year, designers seemed especially smitten with these feminine references. But in the wake of 2017—a year when millions of women marched for human rights, “feminism” was one of Merriam-Webster’s most searched words and Time’s Person of the Year was a […]

This Jewellery Is Exactly What You Need for 2017
Sarah Burton’s collections for Alexander McQueen often have historical references, and this season was no exception. The pieces were hyper-feminine and hyper-magical and included a gauzy parade of dresses, sexy corsets and lush ostrich-plume embellishments. In addition, many of the looks featured the creative director’s “Obsession” talisman print, which is steeped in motifs like butterflies, […]

Paris Fashion Week: Fall 2013’s top 3 moments
Paris reigns everlasting as the monarch of style, elegance and tradition, but she also ranks high for innovation and sartorial experimentation. Because of this rare gift, the City of Light continues to be a magnet for a motley crew of bloggers, eccentric journalists and international admirers (oft times known as shoppers) who make the fashion pilgrimage twice a year to bask in her glow. Designers at the top of their game have dazzled us once again. After Chanel’s global statement, Jean Paul Gaultier’s punk parade and Alexander Wang’s debut at Balenciaga, here are three of our most magical moments from Paris Fashion Week Fall 2013.

Sarah Burton hints at designing Kate Middleton’s maternity wardrobe. We pick 5 customizable Alexander McQueen looks
See our Alexander McQueen maternity wear picks for Kate Middleton »
Yesterday, an extremely pregnant—seven months to be exact—Sarah Burton was made an Officer of the British Empire for her contributions to British Fashion or as we’d like to think, for designing the wedding dress of Kate Middleton.
Burton’s designs for Alexander McQueen have become a go-to for the Duchess of Cambridge and right before Kate’s pregnancy announcement, she was spotted in a custom made McQueen coat while playing field hockey—an unofficial pregnancy look.

Pippa Middleton and Prince Harry make Tatler’s list of most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes
Tatler has declared Pippa Middleton and Prince Harry as two very eligible Brits (can we get a duh?).
The annual list that features U.K. celebrities and socialites titled “Little Black Book” put Middleton and Prince Harry in the most eligible bachelor/ette running alongside fashion favourites Cara Delevingne and Sarah Burton as well as David Attenbourough (who’s nearing his 90th birthday).
Despite Prince Harry’s recent shame spiral from a NSFW photo scandal in Las Vegas, we can’t say we’re surprised to see him on the list—he is a prince after all, and an attractive one at that. And as for Pippa Middleton, if having a duchess for a sister and her recent release of her book Celebrate, isn’t reason enough to be eligible then we don’t know what is.

Is Kate Middleton designing clothes? Rumour has it the aubergine coat she wore today is her own creation!
See Kate Middleton’s aubergine coat up close! »
It must be mighty cold in London right now, because today Kate Middleton recycled another outfit from Christmas of last year. The eggplant-purple coat was last seen on Christmas morning, when the Duchess wore it to the royal family’s holiday church service Sandringham. This morning, however, she accessorized the coat in much the same style as she did yesterday: with a wide Alexander McQueen belt, black tights and her black suede Aquatalia by Marvin K boots. She did however swap out the green amethyst Kiki McDonough earrings for her citrine drop pair.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013: The season closes out with a new check at Louis Vuitton, bees at Alexander McQueen and more summer fur at Miu Miu
Editor-in-chief Bernadette Morra rounds out the Spring 2013 season with her review of Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen and Miu Miu.

Experience has told us that a Louis Vuitton collection usually follows a similar theme to the one Marc Jacobs explores for his own label. This season was no exception. Marc Jacobs zeroed in on graphics for Spring 2013, but where he mostly riffed on stripes back in New York, for Louis Vuitton it was all about the Damier check. Traditionally in a brown/beige checkerboard, Louis Vuitton’s Damier has seen recent popularity in a white/grey print for summer totes. So why not take that as a hint loyalists might be ready for more?
Showing, punctually, in a tent at the Musee du Louvre, Marc Jacobs had artist Daniel Buren create the set: a bank of four escalators that the models descended and ascended in pairs. They wore checks in yellow/white, beige/white, green/white and more. There were big checks, little checks and checks in between. They came on ‘60s car coats, boxy jackets over midi skirts and column gowns with patch pockets. The shiniest pieces were cover in what Jacobs promises are the tiniest sequins ever produced to give a metallic fluidity. Texture came from a flock-like pile similar to dense carpeting.
This is the first Vuitton collection not to feature the LV monogram. An interesting test. But then, unlike the regular folk who buy the odd Louis Vuitton bag, maybe the brand’s wealthier clothing customer doesn’t need a logo to show her status?

Kate Middleton continues her Singapore visit in 3 stunning outfits
See what Kate Middleton’s been wearing in Southeast Asia so far »
With the Royal Trip to East Asia fully under way, Kate Middleton has stepped out for day two, in three unsurprisingly stunning outfits. Beginning this morning (or last night for us on this side of the world), Will and Kate (Okay, Prince William and Catherine Duchess of Cambridge on this official occasion) were treated to a tour of Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay. Lauded as one of the country’s most beautiful parks, this place seriously wows (One Google search reveals such stunning flora and fauna that it rivals Kate Middleton herself…almost).
