Lindsay Lohan’s #MeToo Apology Doesn’t Really Mean Much
Last week, the Internet was up in arms (rightly, for once) over a recent interview in which Lindsay Lohan said of the #MeToo movement: “I think by women speaking against all these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women.” “You have these girls who come out, who don’t even know […]

Scarlett Johansson is the First Celeb to Wear Marchesa Since the Fall of Harvey Weinstein
When Scarlett Johansson arrived hand-in-hand with boyfriend Colin Jost at the Met Gala Monday evening, her look paled in comparison to some of the “statement” outfits on the red carpet, such as Rihanna’s Pope-inspired getup and Lena Waithe’s rainbow cape—a self-proclaimed “epic moment of defiance” in support of LGBTQ+ rights. At first glance, Johansson’s off-the-shoulder ombré gown, which […]

Should We Stop Watching Harvey Weinstein’s Movies?
Harvey Weinstein has one of the longest CVs on IMDB. For 36 years, the superpower film producer has been putting his money behind the most celebrated movies in Hollywood: Pulp Fiction, Shakespeare in Love, Silver Linings Playbook, Gangs of New York, Sky Kids, etc. etc. etc… But Harvey Weinstein is a bad dude. On October […]

TIFF 2013: Julia Roberts and Taylor Swift meet-cute, everyone hugs it out at the August: Osage County Soho House party
See the photos from Grey Goose Soho House »
In some cosmic switcheroo, Taylor Swift may just have been the perfect megawatt replacement for Meryl Streep last night at Grey Goose Soho House. Streep had been the most anticipated guest of TIFF 2013 in connection with her latest sure-to-be Oscar nominated leading role in August: Osage County, but bowed out at the last minute due to illness. There were tears for many, especially one pint sized fan who wore a “Meryl in training” T-shirt to the film’s screening at Roy Thompson Hall earlier that evening. Not for the film’s cast and Gucci and Holt Renfrew’s hosted after-party guests however—they all seemed thrilled by the surprise appearance by Swift, who showed up in a wowza Calvin Klein Collection number after walking the red carpet of One Chance. Flanked by Harvey Weinstein and a dapper Brenton Thwaites who I’m sure will be the talk of the blogs all day long (he’s about to be a Disney prince!), Swift held court on the second floor for most of the night, that is, while she wasn’t busy hanging with the film’s star studded cast, aka. the fixtures of the rip-roarious festivities.

TIFF 2013: Adam Levine does shots with Harvey Weinstein inside the Hudson Bay’s Can A Song Save Your Life after-party
See the Can A Song Save Your Life party pictures »
Hudson’s Bay went all out once again for the first of two annual TIFF bashes, this year in conjunction with Can A Song Save Your Life, the star-studded flick lead by Keira Knightley and singer-turned-actor Adam Levine. Splashing its signature stripes all over King Street West resto Patria, the retailer’s stylish presence was felt from Knightley’s The Room-worthy Mary Katrantzou dress to the Bay blanket pillows that dressed bottle service banquettes. As with most every post-film party, the A-list holds court in a corner on the patio, with all eyes on them all night. Lucky for us, that corner just so happened to be where we settled with our Grey Goose Le Fizz cocktails in hand.

BAFTAs 2013: Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams and Michael Fassbender let loose at the Grey Goose after party
View all our gallery from the BAFTAs Grey Goose after party »
The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) took place in London last night, and while the temperatures outside were chilly to say the least, snow didn’t stop the winners and nominees from attending Grey Goose’s red hot after party celebrating the Weinstein Company’s nominated films: Silver Linings Playbook, Django Unchained and The Master.
Many of the aforementioned films’ stars attended, including Hollywood’s It girl of the moment Jennifer Lawrence who shined in a sequined strapless Dior Haute Couture gown, slicked back hair and Chopard dangle earrings. As the party got underway, Lawrence and her Silver Linings Playbook co-star Bradley Cooper were back into the dancing swing of their Playbook characters, getting down on the dance floor with Michael Fassbender and British actress Alice Eve. If these photos are any indication, there was plenty of sweat and fun to be had. Also in attendance, Amy Adams looked gorgeous in a knee-length, beaded turquoise number (ID Pending).

TIFF 2012: Keira Knightley, Nina Dobrev, Amy Adams, Jude Law and many (many) more celebs spotted at Grey Goose Soho House
It was another doozy of a night at the Grey Goose Soho House last night, with TIFF celebs upon TIFF celebs upon TIFF celebs showing up en masse to toast their various premieres, presentations and pals. As the official after party spot for Anna Karenina, Soho House’s first megawatt guest was Keira Knightley. Flawless in a black sheer lace-y floor-length Elie Saab gown, it was said that her every move was swanlike, and we believe it. Co-stars Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (alongside his May-December love, director and photographer Sam Taylor-Wood) channelled their period costumes, both wearing three-piece suits. Though there isn’t photo evidence of Matthew MacFayden’s wears, we’ll have an imaginary vision of him in period-inspired attire as well. We’ll also imagine his Mr. Darcy coif intact.

They said/We said: Harvey Weinstein reportedly believes that Lana Del Rey has the acting chops to make it as a movie star
Love her or hate her, Lana Del Rey’s meteoric rise to fame is showing no signs of flagging. After critics harshly panned the plush-lipped singer’s Saturday Night Live performance in January, it seemed like for a moment there, Del Rey’s star appeal was beginning to wane. However, one fashion accolade, a trip to Cannes’ red carpet and news of a big film industry opportunity later, and Del Rey is back on top.
First, there was the creation of her eponymous Mulberry bag, which was first announced in February. Its sales are fast approaching that of another famous Mulberry bag: the Alexa, named after Alexa Chung. “We wanted it to be functional with an uptown twist as Lana is such a wonderful uptown girl herself,” said Mulberry’s creative director Emma Hill.
The fashion world aside, movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was reportedly overheard at the Cannes Film Festival telling the “Video Games” singer that the “camera loves her.”
Weinstein, the co-founder of Miramax, is said to think Del Rey has all the makings of a movie star, from her stage presence to her stunning features to her gritty-meets-chic sense of style. The man obviously knows the movie biz inside and out (The Artist and The King’s Speech are two heavy-hitters that he’s responsible for), so if he is giving Del Rey the stamp of approval, other movie industry types will probably follow suit.
Whether or not she ends up on the big screen anytime soon, one thing’s for certain: this “self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra” has an It factor that is opening doors for her in every direction.
