The Room at Hudson’s Bay fêtes Brit shoe designers Nicholas Kirkwood and Sophia Webster
The Room at Hudson’s Bay went full Anglo on Tuesday night with its celebration of two Brit shoe designers, Nicholas Kirkwood and Sophia Webster. Held in the store’s palatial new shoe department (seriously, it’s 20,000 square feet), the soiree served as a shoe shopping kick off as well as, well, just another excuse to party. Toronto’s style setters were in fine pre-fashion week form, pulling out all the outfit stops and the Nicholas Kirkwood chevrons to boot.
Kim Tanenbaum modelled her mother-in-law Carole Tanenbaum’s jewels just perfectly overtop an all-black outfit and Kirkwood’s wholesale director Josephine Papasavvas brought the party’s requisite Peter Pilotto factor alongside a stomach-bearing crop top. West end cred was sufficiently represented by Prince Innocence’s Talvi Faustmann and Josh McIntyre, who matched in long black trench coats. Hair statementing was a thing too, especially for a certain top-knotted shoe associate who delighted us with his kabuki-like appearance and definitive newness on the scene. You go girl.

TIFF 2013: Adam Levine does shots with Harvey Weinstein inside the Hudson Bay’s Can A Song Save Your Life after-party
See the Can A Song Save Your Life party pictures »
Hudson’s Bay went all out once again for the first of two annual TIFF bashes, this year in conjunction with Can A Song Save Your Life, the star-studded flick lead by Keira Knightley and singer-turned-actor Adam Levine. Splashing its signature stripes all over King Street West resto Patria, the retailer’s stylish presence was felt from Knightley’s The Room-worthy Mary Katrantzou dress to the Bay blanket pillows that dressed bottle service banquettes. As with most every post-film party, the A-list holds court in a corner on the patio, with all eyes on them all night. Lucky for us, that corner just so happened to be where we settled with our Grey Goose Le Fizz cocktails in hand.

Remembering hairstylist Marco Greco
Marco Greco—a Toronto based hair stylist who coiffed the hair of some of the city’s most stylish women—passed away suddenly at the age of 46 on Tuesday. Greco was an editorial staple at FASHION, where he produced looks that were both stunning and memorable. Susie Sheffman, our fashion editor-at-large, remembers Greco’s gentle nature saying, “Aside from a talented hairdresser, the world has lost a lovely gentle soul in Marco. It was always a treat to sit in his chair, and an honour to collaborate with him creatively on shoots.”

A closer look at what Team Canada’s wearing to the podium during the 2012 Olympics
Now that Team Canada has scored a bronze medal in synchronized diving, it’s time we had a closer look at what our Olympians wore (and will hopefully be wearing many more times) while accepting their medal on the podium. The red-on-red (ain’t much of a surprise there!) tracksuit is a classic nod to to the […]

Here’s a peek at what Team Canada will be wearing to the Olympic opening ceremonies tonight!
Looks like Team Canada will be keeping it pretty cool and casual at tonight’s (today’s in time warp terms?) opening ceremonies in London. The Bay has just released a sketch of the official uniforms which features red and white colour blocked “Canada” zipped sweater over white button downs—the women’s, with traditional plaid on the placket, […]

Inside Vancouver’s all-star The Room opening with Jessica Stam, Brian Atwood, Erdem, and Alexandra Richards
A black carpet, sprinkled with male models in white tuxes, beckoned guests to the second floor of the Bay Downtown Vancouver for the Thursday night grand opening of The Room, the department store’s second den of high fashion. Erdem Moralioglu and Brian Atwood—both on their first visit to Vancouver—Jason Matlo, Monika Deol, and Jessica Stam (to name a few) were among the crowd of well-dressed revellers air kissing, clinking glasses, and noshing on Hawksworth Restaurant–made canapés.

Inside last night’s Greta Constantine primer party: A backyard full of pretties and mannequins perched poolside
Last night, Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong of Greta Constantine held court (along with many stylish subjects) in the lush backyard of a beautiful Rosedale home in Toronto to reveal the second collection in their new accessibly priced womenswear line, Primer. As could be expected, all of Greta’s signature fingerprints appeared in the line of richly hued draped-cotton and jersey dresses that were displayed on prettily posed mannequins positioned poolside. While the collection won’t be available for a few months, one thing you can look forward to are totally manageable price points, starting at less than $100 and ranging no higher than $500.

Who’s next? The Bay continues its raid of Toronto talent
By Randi Bergman and Meagan Wilson
Bonnie Brooks’ reinvigoration of the Hudson’s Bay Company, and the flagship’s St. Regis Room in particular (now simply called The Room), has brought hot design names like Proenza Schouler, Thakoon and Erdem well south of Bloor Street. Factor in buzzy in-store appearances—with the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, virtually every British designer worth mentioning, and Anna Dello Russo (who will descend with street-style phenom Tommy Ton on April 20)—and Toronto officially has a new nexus of chic.
