Compiled by Sarah Casselman, Zeina Esmail, Caitlan Moneta and Bernadette Morra
As we prepare to dive head first into a new season of trends to try, must-haves to buy and warmer weather to embrace, we take a look back at the weeks that started it all. Hitting the runways back in September, the Spring 2013 fashion week season brought us the hula hoop bag (Chanel), the Google glass headset (DVF), the ever-revolving designer door (Raf/Hedi/Jil and so on). Take a visual trip back to Spring 2013, as our globetrotting editors distil 28 of the most memorable moments from New York to Paris and back again.

Top 10 Fashion Trends, Spring 2013: We distill over a month of runway and street style photos into 100 of the season’s strongest moments
See the biggest Spring 2013 fashion trends »
See all of our fashion month coverage »It’s official, Spring 2013 fashion month is over. And after receiving a daily dose of street style photos and runway updates, it would be silly for us to ignore the trends that we saw day after day (after day, after day). It’s hard not to fall victim to sensory overload, but thankfully our street style photographer, Stefania Yarhi, made it easy for us to pick and choose which trends we know we’ll be seeing all spring long. With hundreds of photos from Paris, Milan, London, New York, and Toronto at our disposal, we just couldn’t ignore the countless graphic tops (a day without a Balenciaga sci-fi sweater sighting was a total shocker), exposed bellies, suits, and mixed prints—so we didn’t because we’re positive they will be huge come Spring 2013. We’ve selected 10 of the biggest fashion trends from the streets and the runways and put them together in one place, so gets to clickin’. The leaves may just be starting to fall, but it’s never too early to plan for spring, right? (RIGHT!)
View by trend: 1. CARTOON GRAPHICS | 2. BARE MIDRIFF | 3. FILING SUIT | 4. MIXED PRINTS | 5. MONOCHROMATIC | 6. OUT THERE ACCESSORIES | 7. PEEK A BOO | 8. SEEING RED | 9. SIXTIES | 10. STRUCTURE

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: We spot Chloë Sevigny, Emma Stone, Marc Jacobs and Dianna Agron on the last day of shows
See the final batch of street style photos from fashion month!
And that’s a wrap! Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013 has come to a close. Please excuse us while we sob into our keyboards. Stefania Yarhi, our street style photographer, worked her magic outside of the shows and finished off fashion month by photographing a surprising set of street stylers, but it’s an exciting batch of photos nonetheless.
Fashion month ended with shows from Louis Vuitton, Ellie Saab, and Miu Miu. A collection from Miuccia Prada is pretty alluring, so alluring that young Hollywood starlets hopped on a plane and left Los Angeles just to sit in the front row. Sassy Glee star, Dianna Agron kicked it old school with mod spider lashes and a clean pulled back pony and Emma Stone showed up with an extremely bold lip she accessorized with a man carrying an umbrella for her. Is it wrong to say we liked this umbrella-holder’s “OMG” hoodie a lot?
Chloë Sevigny was also in attendance, which makes a lot of sense considering she’s been the face of Miu Miu a couple times, and she was looking like the young starlets super cool older sister in a mixed print short suit.

Hedi Slimane versus Cathy Horyn: How their beef went from passive aggressive non-invites to a fully publicized snarkfest
The claws have come out in the battle of Hedi Slimane vs. Cathy Horyn. After making his guestlist, and checking it twice, Slimane chose to exclude The New York Times critic from his debut collection for Saint Laurent. WWD was quick to point out the fact that Cathy Horyn was missing from the show, and Horyn, who is known for being a bit of a loud mouth—she recently called Oscar De La Renta a hotdog—did not keep quiet about her exclusion from the show.
Horyn wrote her New York Times review based off the photos and cleared the air about her lack of attendance by saying, “I was not invited. Despite positive reviews of his early YSL and Dior collections, as well as a profile, Mr. Slimane objected bitterly to a review I wrote in 2004 — not about him but Raf Simons. Essentially I wrote that without Mr. Simons’s template of slim tailoring and street casting, there would not have been a Hedi Slimane — just as there would never have been a Raf Simons without Helmut Lang. Fashion develops a bit like a genetic line.”

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013: What to do when you’re caught between the paparazzi and Jennifer Lopez and notes from Valentino, Chanel and Dior
See more Spring 2013 photos from Chanel, Valentino and Dior »
If you value your footwear (and your toes, for that matter) do not stand anywhere near Jennifer Lopez.
I learned this today as I was making my way to my seat at the Valentino show in a tent in the Tuileries. I have witnessed paparazzi frenzies many times in my career but there is a particularly panic that sets in when J.Lo is in the ‘hood. The freelance photographers can sniff a guaranteed money shot. The staff photographers know they will face the wrath of their editors if they come back empty handed.
Either way, they are all in battle mode.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013 Style Snaps: We spy Rachel Zoe, Leigh Lezark, Taylor Tomasi Hill, Giovanna Battaglia and more outside Giambattista Valli and Stella McCartney

Today’s set of street style photos from Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013 is basically a stylish game of Where’s Waldo because there are so many major fashion folks to spot. Think you have what it takes? Because our street style photographer Stefania Yarhi definitely does.
First, we breathe a sigh of relief upon spotting Anna Dello Russo (we were seriously freaking out yesterday) in a bright Peter Pilotto dress outside Giambattista Valli. Also outside was Leigh Lezark, in a fiery red, orange and black ensemble—half pantsuit, half structured sweater. There’s also quite the French beauty aesthetic going on, with almost everyone sporting natural waves and messy curls, including Emmanuelle Alt and Australian stylist Caroline Sieber. It’s a hairstyle that works: they look casual cool as they cruise around the streets of Paris.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: 60+ shots including Kanye West, Carine Roitfeld, Leandra Medine and yep, Balenciaga’s sci-fi sweater is still going strong
See the latest street style photos from Paris!
If you’re having a case of the Mondays, today’s edition of street style photos from Paris Fashion Week will definitely be the cure. This weekend our street style photographer Stefania Yarhi has captured 50 plus photos from outside the tents, including a mix of celebrities, editors, and all-around well-dressed folks.
The rapper behind the song Christian Dior Denim Flow—that is, Kanye West—made quite the appearance outside Dior cloaked in very on-trend tuxedo jacket paired with a heavy gold chain (Kim Kardashian for once wasn’t his accessory du jour). We also spotted Carine Roitfeld, Olivia Palermo and Leigh Lezark outside Dior—which, given that it was Raf Simons first ready-to-wear collection for the brand, was one of the more buzzed about shows.

This is an Important Trend Bulletin from Paris. Spring 2013 will be known as the season of the tux. Variations on Le Smoking opened Lanvin, Dior and Givenchy—a major signifier since eveningwear is usually reserved for last part of a show. And you can pretty much bet we’ll be seeing tuxedoes tonight when Hedi Slimane unveils his first collection for the now-renamed Saint Laurent Paris.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013 backstage beauty: Rosebud red lips at Rochas with a hot-pink secret
See more backstage pictures from Rochas Spring 2013 »
The bold red lip at Rochas Spring 2013 has quite the enchanting quality to it. The shade? A deeply pigmented rosebud red. The texture? Perfectly matte. Paired with a fresh-faced no makeup look it’s the sort of colour that shows just how much influence a well-done lip can have. (Anyone who’s ever thrown on her favourite lipstick in place of doing any other makeup knows this trick well.) Makeup artist Lucia Pieroni used two different Clé de Peau lipsticks to create the velvety look for Rochas, applying “R1,” a blue toned brick-red shade first and then layering and “R2,” a cherry-red colour, on top. However, the almost vibrating lip colour has another trick: hot pink blush. According to Into The Gloss, Lucia Pieroni finished the look by brushing on pink pigment. She started at the centre of the lip, blending outward with a Q-tip, which both enhanced the matte texture and added depth to the colour. It’s a different take on the two-toned lip that’s been popular the last few seasons—less colour blocking, more multi-dimensional. Lucia Pieroni called the final colour “beetroot berry” and we’re just going to go ahead and rename it our favourite lip colour for Spring 2013.
