Galliano’s comeback: Did the spectacle at Maison Margiela Fall 2015 drown out the collection?
This past Friday, John Galliano debuted his Fall 2015 show for Maison Margiela, his second show for the brand since being named its creative director last fall. For those who don’t know, Margiela is a brand synonymous with minimalism and deconstruction. Galliano’s appointment was a surprise (if not a shock) to many, not only due […]

The sequined skull at the Givenchy Fall 2015 Men’s show took 8 hours to create
Who would have guessed that the coolest makeup looks would pop up during Men’s Fashion Week? But lo and behold the sparkly skull look that makeup artist Pat McGrath created at the Givenchy Fall 2015 Menswear show over the weekend, featuring (probably) one million pounds of glitter and sequins. Are Birkenstocks cool? How they made it from slacker to staple for the second spring in a row
We can credit the genius of Phoebe Philo for bringing back the Birkenstock out of grandpa’s closet and onto our must-have shopping lists for spring. Céline’s fuzzy, fur-lined sandal kicked off the third coming of the comfort shoe legend last year. After a year in the spotlight, Birkenstocks have returned for a second year with […]

The top 10 strangest celebrity creative directors
Gone are the days when celebrities and designers were just, well, celebrities and designers. Now with every celebrity endorsement comes with a prestigious title—one that we’re used to being associated with helming a major fashion house—the creative director.

With the recent news of Alicia Keys becoming the Global Creative Director of Blackberry, and today’s announcement of Marc Jacobs as the newest creative director of Diet Coke—succeeding Jean Paul Gaultier—we’ve decided to take a look back at some of the weirdest and flat out funniest creative directors to date.

They said/We said: Could Marc Jacobs really be the new guy at Dior?
Rumours surrounding who would take charge at Dior began almost immediately following John Galliano’s dismissal back in February. While former Galliano aid Bill Gaytten had stepped into the role of creative director during Paris Couture Week back in April, we’d assume a megawatter is what LVMH is seeking for the permanent position (especially after Gaytten’s poorly received collection). To date, Ricardo Tisci, Alber Elbaz, and Haider Ackermann have been named as a few of the possible contenders, and now the latest rumours circulating are that LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault wants Marc Jacobs for the job.
