Inside JNBY’s pre Toronto Fashion Week party: Models in Miley buns toast the Chinese label’s Canadian debut
Amidst the homegrown talent, one very cool and far away brand will be making its Canadian runway debut next week during World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto. JNBY (Just Naturally Be Yourself) is big in Japan…and Thailand and Singapore and France as well as China, where it hails from. A week before its reveal at fashion week (and we’ll save the oohs and aahs till then), JNBY previewed its Spring 2014 collection to an ultra trendy crowd at a pre-fashion week party hosted by The Collections. The stellar clothes were shown alongside a large photo print by Cory VanderPloeg of a model wearing Laura Siegel‘s spring collection..
Regular scenesters like Amina Said, Sarah Magwood, Parris Gordon, Jay Strut and The Collections threesome Dwayne Kennedy, Mel Ashcroft and Brian Richards lined the walls as well as fresh faced models in Miley buns and off duty sweaters. As with any cool kid party, there were plenty of new faces to creep in true Cinderella form. We’d like to crown a new style princess, but we don’t know her name. You! Got the other glass slipper?

Summer street style: 20 photos of Toronto’s cool kids sunning in Trinity Bellwoods
See our batch of summer street style from Toronto »
Summer is finally here and whether or not it actually feels like it, Canadians are so desperate for some respite from a never-ending cold spell that we’ve been flocking to those friendly familiar sunny dens as much as possible. For any cool kid in Toronto, the definitive place to hang (and be seen) during the summer months is the west end’s Trinity Bellwoods park. Each Saturday and Sunday, the grassy fields, tennis courts and dog bowl fill up with cute picnickers, athletes and flower crown sellers looking to have a good time. Over the past few weekends, photographer Stefania Yarhi’s been hanging around the ever-popular spot capturing the most stylish maxing on relaxing time. All the hallmarks of summer street style are present in these 20 photos shot at Trinity Bellwoods, including floral prints, flow-y dresses and the requisite Kenzo baseball hat. Amongst our street stylers, we caught notable Torontonians including Magwood Boutique’s Sarah Magwood, and The Coveteur’s Stephanie Mark. Because where else would anyone be?

Inside last night’s Greta Constantine primer party: A backyard full of pretties and mannequins perched poolside
Last night, Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong of Greta Constantine held court (along with many stylish subjects) in the lush backyard of a beautiful Rosedale home in Toronto to reveal the second collection in their new accessibly priced womenswear line, Primer. As could be expected, all of Greta’s signature fingerprints appeared in the line of richly hued draped-cotton and jersey dresses that were displayed on prettily posed mannequins positioned poolside. While the collection won’t be available for a few months, one thing you can look forward to are totally manageable price points, starting at less than $100 and ranging no higher than $500.
