It was a mic drop moment to be sure, and Chiuri’s debut collection for the house turned out to be epic, too—especially the white tee featuring […]

Own a piece of Victoria Beckham’s wardrobe by way of The Outnet
See some of Victoria Beckham’s most iconic fashion moments »
Victoria Beckham may be known for her sophisticated style and minimalist clothing line, but her wardrobe has seriously transformed since she was introduced to us as Posh Spice in the early ‘90s. From August 20 to 25 you will have a chance to own a part of her style history, as over 600 pieces from her closet will be sold on online retailer The Outnet. The two have partnered to benefit the charity mothers2mothers that cares for HIV positive mothers and teaches them how to prevent spreading the virus to their children.
While the pieces will include evening dresses, coats and ready-to-wear by top designers, we’re most excited for the styles from her Spice Girls days. We’re hoping to see her iconic leopard print mini dress, the lace number from the Spice Girls movie cover, and of course that little Gucci dress, among the products for sale. The 10 pieces that hold the most significance to her—whether they were worn on dates with her hubby or to awards shows, were valued by auction house Christie’s and will be sold through a reverse auction. And yes, this does include the white, crystal studded Dolce & Gabbana dress she wore to the 2003 MTV Awards.

The Outnet celebrates 5 years with a limited-edition designer collection
Discount designer haven The Outnet turns five tomorrow, whilst making our wee fashion fantasies come true with a limited-edition collection launching on the same day.
The 17-piece collection features greatest hits from some of fashion’s biggest darlings. Think Chloé wedges, Balmain tees and Alexander McQueen clutch and more. It also includes Rouland Mouret’s O’Hara dress, a mainstay silhouette for A-listers.
The Outnet will also be rolling out a national campaign starring none other than maga-babe, Chanel Iman. To boot, fashion insiders like Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine, Harley Viera-Newton and model Jessica Hart wax poetic about birthdays in an online short.

Outward bound: How Canadian talent has helped U.K.-based The Outnet succeed
When you move an ocean away for a new life and a new job in a new country, you might expect to be the odd accent out in a weekly status meeting, or take an occasional ribbing for your use of words like “sweater” and “tank top” instead of “jumper” and “vest.” Unless, of course, you’re a Canadian working at The Outnet.
While the British e-tailer’s staff is remarkably international, one can’t help but notice that Canadians occupy some key positions.
Mary Chaim is the New York-based head of merchandise planning, leading a team that works directly with designers to source end-of-season runs and create exclusive pieces for the site. Rebecca Tay is the editor responsible for all written communication, and social media writer Malwina Gudowska looks after The Outnet’s social media platforms. Tay and Gudowska are London residents and FASHION alumnae—Tay was FASHION’s western editor from 2007 to 2010, while Gudowska was FASHION’s first Alberta editor, from 2006 to 2009. Toronto-born art director Jane Gorley, who recently left The Outnet to join a London-based start-up, helped shape the original creative vision for the site, including its design and custom content. And if you question president Stephanie Phair about her nationality, she’ll whip out her Canadian passport. “I was born in Mexico and grew up in London, but my father is from Chatham, Ont.,” she says. Phair has been with the firm since it launched with two employees in 2009.

Oscar de la Renta launches a second collaboration with The Outnet
Oscar de la Renta is back for another round at The Outnet, launching his latest collaboration with the high end discount e-tailer with pint-sized Russian powerhouse, Miroslava Duma as its face. For those who aren’t familiar with Duma’s IRL pursuits, the global street style star is the founder of fashion news website Buro247 as well as the digital media director at Russian department store, Tsum.
The 19-piece capsule collection is set for sale next Tuesday December 17 and is a distinct but accessible concoction of De la Renta’s signature evening party dresses and resort wear. As a long time fan of the brand, Ms. Duma tells The Outnet, “Oscar de la Renta’s style is very classic, very uptown—it makes you feel confident, chic and elegant.”

The Coveteur goes to Texas: Canada’s favourite closet blog collaborates with The Outnet in the Lone Star state
See The Coveteur’s Texas images »
Big Rich Texas may already be the name of a reality television show, but it speaks to volumes to the gussied up possibilities of the Lone Star state. Once only associated with cowboys and country stars (y’all accuse of living in igloos, so we’re allowed some misconceptions, right?), Texas is quickly rising as one of the most important high-end fashion buying markets in America. To toast the state, discount designer e-tailer The Outnet partnered up with the Toronto-based team behind The Coveteur to profile some of Texas’s leading ladies (Jane and Judy Aldridge were obviously front and centre) as well as to style a few pieces of their own against quintessential backdrops of the state, which premiere in shoppable form on The Outnet tomorrow.
In this exclusive sneak peek, we get a feel for what the trip was like for the Toronto-based trio Stephanie Mark, Erin Kleinberg and photographer Jake Rosenberg. Beautiful. Rural. And ripe for typical Cov styling. As for the juicy road trip stories: “The highlight of the trip was when Jake took the wrong exit on the highway. He ended up spending the next two hours at Texas Jerks, a BBQ joint in a small Texas town kicking it with the two heavily bearded owners,” says Mark. Well, as they say, everything is bigger in Texas.

Designer clothes at discount prices: We explore the new wave of online retail with a tour of The Outnet headquarters in London
Online-shopping veteran Rebecca Tay explores the digital world of discount ready-to-wear while taking an exclusive tour of The Outnet’s HQ in London.
See the global top sellers | See the Canadian top sellers
Online-shopping virgins are rare these days. Any girl worth her weight in Wang (whether it’s Alexander or Vera) has not only done the deed but also experimented with the latest spine-tingling activity: trolling the web for designer discounts. Who hasn’t hit the sheets with their laptop primed for a little ready-to-wear rollback action? Half-price Lanvin ballet flats? Yes, please! Erdem floral dresses for a fraction of their original price? Click: “buy!” E-boutiques like Shopbop, Asos and Net-A-Porter have huge followings, but the new stars of the online retail world are the luxury-good bargain hunters. When it comes to these price-choppy waters, The Outnet is the mother ship, drawing more than one million unique visitors every month. It was launched in 2009 as an offshoot of Net-A-Porter, which was one of the first companies to offer designer brands online. With more than 200 high-end labels to browse, including Stella McCartney, Marni, Balmain and Marc Jacobs, this site is a destination for marked-down must-haves. Boots that once cost a month’s rent are now $200; almost everything, from Alexander McQueen to Zac Posen, is 50 to 70 per cent off. It’s a virtual dream, but I get the chance to see if this fairy-tale land of luxe-for-less really exists beyond the screen when I receive an exclusive invitation to spend a day at The Outnet.
