Big bag backlash: Why the mini trend is taking over
Apple Pay launched in Canada earlier this week, which means that American Express cardholders will now be able to tap pay with their iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. While this development may be unfavourable for certain accessories (ahem, wallets), it is actually very conducive to this season’s obsession with pint-sized purses. Shown on the runways […]

8 hot new denim trends, 56 ways to wear them
There’s no denying it, jeans are a closet essential. They’re the first date go-to, the Sunday morning brunch uniform and the casual Friday staple. They survive suitcase abuse, concert dance marathons and nights out paired with the spindliest stilettos. Dress them up, or dress them down, denim will always hold a place in our hearts […]

The curious case of Marc by Marc Jacobs: The line is reportedly closing
To those who came to late teens in the early ‘00s, Marc by Marc Jacobs is like the Holy Grail: Unknown enough to be coveted by the anti-Juicy, expensive enough to become birthday present material and the perfect toe dip into high fashion price points. Well, today it was announced that Marc by Marc as […]

New York Fashion Week Fall 2015: The biggest colour trends we’re spotting for next season
In the world of fashion, black is like peanut butter and jelly: it’s a go-to staple that never disappoints. Vera Wang knows this better than most. Her Fall 2015 line-up was a blackout—though an ivory fisherman pullover did drop anchor during the show—but somehow there’s an incredible lightness to her signature dark shadows. Bubbled hem […]

The gorgeous beauty trend that completely took over the NYFW Spring 2015 runways
The last half of NYFW has been low on beauty statements. Show after show, makeup teams were barely breaking a sweat while working on models’ faces, focusing instead on perfected skin, groomed brows and shiny eyelids. At Rag & Bone, Gucci Westman described the look as “very easy, a lot less complicated and more real,” […]

Fall Fashion 2014: 231 photos of the top 10 trends of the season
See the entire Fall fashion 2014 trend report »
From the food aisles to a galaxy far, far away, Fall 2014’s fashion narrative is just as varied as the many women who’ll likely fall for its manifold charms.
Call it the Lorde effect (or blame it fashion’s ever-growing obsession with Game of Thrones), but designers across all four major fashion cities seemed to fall under the dark spell of moody heroines. At Dolce & Gabbana, dresses were made to scrape that forest floor. At Valentino, capes shrouded the wicked and at Rodarte and Preen, Star Wars prints were made for the modern day Princess Leia.

And while normcore may have mounted last season’s defence to street style’s increasing zaniness, Fall fashion 2014 is rife with ways to make statements. Flashbulbs will no doubt capture this season’s array of larger than life outerwear, from the utilitarian parkas on Alexander Wang’s robotic runway to Burberry’s painterly blanket coats. Meanwhile, fur was back with a brightly hued vengeance, ombréd at both Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs, and in Crayola checks at Altuzarra. At Lanvin and Marni, fur was layered in wrap form over everything from short suits to sweatshirts.
This season’s accessories are especially light-hearted, with everything from a McDonalds Happy Meal to a carton of milk inspiring fall fashion 2014’s bags at Moschino and Chanel respectively. There were fur muffs at Tory Burch, crystal-incrusted snoods at Alexander McQueen and knee-highs á la Vivian Ward at Versace and sneakers once again staking their claim at Chanel.
If there ever were a time to pick your poison, it would be now.
