See the designer wedding dresses »
As many designer-loving brides have already figured out, white wedding dresses are simply that: white dresses. (Actually, sometimes wedding dresses aren’t even white, but I digress.) And while there will always be legions of Say Yes to the Dress fans who dream of trying on elaborate confections in a bridal boutique, there is no rule that says a wedding dress must be created especially for the occasion (a.k.a. with a price tag that would make most bring up their breakfast). As such, searching for wedding dresses in unexpected places might just produce unexpected results. Case in point: Net-a-Porter‘s annual spring sale which started today and has a pretty epic selection of stunning white designer dresses that can easily double as wedding dresses. SAG Awards 2014: Our top 12 red carpet picks
See the SAG Awards 2014 red carpet »
If there were one word to sum up the 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, it would be colour. All of our favourite stars opted for a bright flash on the red carpet, with nary a head-to-toe black ensemble in sight. Even Jennifer Lawrence’s Christian Dior Haute Couture column dress was an array of shimmering multi-coloured sequins that changed hues as she moved. Black, it seems, is so 2013.
Also on the darker end of things, Jennifer Garner opted for a custom midnight blue Max Mara gown, in her favourite strapless mermaid silhouette. Dame Helen Mirren once again showed how to look seductive and age appropriate with a gorgeous black gown, lifted with gold foliage embroidery, from the Escada Pre-Fall 2014 collection. The wide sash belt, pop of colour on the lips, and black and gold chandelier earrings all worked together seamlessly. We bow down to the greatness that is Dame Mirren.
Bringing some high-voltage blues to the red carpet were frequent best-dressed list toppers Lupita Nyong’o and Amy Adams, both in killer dresses. Nyong’o’s Gucci column dress featured an embellished neckline that was as unusual as it was jaw dropping. Matched with pared down jewels from Fred Leighton, the actress went on to win Best Supporting Actress for 12 Years A Slave in stunning fashion. Adams’ Antonio Berardi gown was perfectly accented with a coral lip, an embellished waist, and complementary green and blue drop earrings.

Spring 2014 shoes: 55 favourites we’re already itching to get our feet into
See our favourite Spring 2014 shoes »
With Paris Fashion Week ending our month long preview of all things Spring 2014, it’s time we gushed over the shoes that accompanied all that we are dying to wear in the coming season.
Femininity reigned supreme on the runway through Balenciaga, Dior and Roland Mouret’s take on the stiletto. Dior’s complexly inter woven straps would make any shoe addict salivate. At Balmain, our impending full coverage boots will shed a few layers and appear as heeled boots with varying dotted sheer and embellished cage finishes. While we saw Saint Laurent’s fall styles embrace the studded and spiked appeal of punk’s aesthetic, Junya Watanabe clung onto the trend for his Spring 2014 shoes with a menacing ankle boot. Enviable green snakeskin heels and platform chunky heels were seen at Gucci and Michael Kors respectively. Spring is incomplete without feather embellished flats as seen at Rochas.
