A Look Back at Kylie Jenner’s Curious (But Amazing) Style Evolution
The birth and naming of Saint West has barely taken the pressure of the public eye off of Kylie Jenner since her controversial Interview Magazine cover hit the stands. In the spread, Jenner is dressed as a sort of sex doll in various constricting, shiny leather garments, her arms eerily stiff and arranged at robotic-like […]

Charting Gigi Hadid’s style, from all-American girl to fashion force to be reckoned with
Gigi Hadid’s been on our fashion radar since the age of 2 when she first started modelling for Baby Guess. Since then, she’s transformed from an all-American girl to a true force to be reckoned with. As a child, Hadid’s style reflected her sporty personality and laid-back SoCal lifestyle. Think equestrian Malibu Barbie with better […]

How Not to Butcher 23 Difficult-to-Pronounce Designer Names
It’s safe to assume that at some point in our lives we will butcher the pronunciation of a name to the point of no return (I’ve done it before, and often have my own name mispronounced, which results in major LOLs and sometimes SMHs). Now that fashion month has wrapped up, we’ve put together a primer […]

10 need-to-know designers who are the new red carpet favourites
As we’re sure you’ve noticed, a celebrity being cast as a big label’s spokesperson usually means that said celeb will be wearing nothing but that label for the duration of their contract. For better or worse, we’re pretty much bound to seeing Jennifer Lawrence in Dior for the next few years. Same goes for Keira […]

Oscars 2014 party looks: The 10 best dressed guests that never made it on TV
See the best Oscars 2014 party looks »
Sometimes, no matter how big a star you are, you can’t nab an invitation to the Oscars ceremony. But perhaps there’s more fun in dressing up for fun and hitting the party circuit than stuck in a theatre seat all night. Just take a look at the Oscar parties frequented by many a celeb and star—the glamorous styles didn’t stop at the red carpet. Just because you aren’t nominated for an Oscar doesn’t mean you can’t join in on the fun, right?
Taylor Swift went for some drama in a black sequined column dress with a sexy sheer back by Julien MacDonald, keeping things in line with her usual look of relaxed waves and a red pout. In the same vein as TSwift, Allison Williams upped the ante in a backless Emilia Wickstead gown in bright bubble gum pink, expertly tailored with a full skirt and a high pseudo-turtleneck. Both pretty young things kept their jewellery to a minimum going for statement earrings and blinding rings—a new engagement ring in Williams’ case.

New York Fashion Week: The top 5 colour trends for Fall 2014 so far
See the trends from New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 »
Just before New York Fashion Week, Pantone released its forecast for Fall 2014, citing “Radiant Orchid,” “Mauve Mist” and “Aurora Red” as some of the top hits. Well, yup. From ball gowns to the avant-garde, designers have kept their hues in check this season, using a pretty strikingly clear palette from which to create. Here are some of the standouts, Pantone-approved or otherwise:

New York Fashion Week: Dispatch from the front lines of Spring 2014’s feisty first day
Time to break out the crop tops, sunglasses and novelty sweatshirts, New York Fashion Week is here. With over 350 shows on the calendar this season there’s a lot to see, tweet and covet. Here are our favourite moments from the front lines of fashion week.
Karlie Kloss’ steals the spotlight at Jason Wu
Jason Wu’s spring collection saw the go-to FLOTUS designer take his signature sophistication in a more relaxed direction for spring. Slinky metallic halter dresses, silk crepe safari jumpsuits and soft slouchy sweaters in creamy whites, sage greens and hits of black and blue had iPhone cameras flying (but not tweeting thanks to the much-maligned lack of reception). The show was a fast-moving flurry of subtle sparkle, shine and fluid silhouettes, but time seemed to stop when Karlie Kloss stepped onto the runway. Wearing a silky pale sage gown with elaborate embroidered hem, Kloss took a deliberately slower pace than the other girls, seductively weaving her way down the catwalk. Girlfriend was equal parts fierce and feline. In fact, many show-goers mistakenly tweeted that Kloss closed the show but (fact check) she was actually the second last girl to walk. Way to steal the show, KK.

Teen Choice Awards 2013: Our 6 top picks for best dressed on the red carpet
See the Teen Choice Award 2013 red carpet photos »
Last night’s Teen Choice Awards saw our favourite stars and starlets collecting surfboards for their various contributions to film, television and music. Show highlights included Harry Styles’ 3-second twerk-out and a special appearance by Miley Cyrus’ engagement ring. Buzz-worthy moments were had in the fashion department as well, with leather, crop tops and cutout dresses making their fair share of appearances on the blue carpet outside L.A.’s Gibson Amphitheatre.
Darren Criss of Glee and Lucy Hale of Pretty Little Liars played co-hosts for the evening. Hale, who collected a surfboard for Choice Summer TV Star, looked perfectly pretty in a mint green silk crop top and floral-embroidered skirt by Houghton. She let the outfit do the talking with her minimal makeup and laidback waves. Hale’s TV co-star Shay Mitchell ditched her signature bold colour palette for a simple yet sexy black and white jumpsuit by Jenni Kayne. In the beauty department the actress paired her new honey-coloured ombré hair with deep smoky eyes.

MTV Movie Awards 2013: Our 6 picks for best dressed on the red carpet

Last night, some of our favourite young starlets and celebrities hit the red carpet for the MTV Movie Awards where they handed out and were awarded 2013’s batch of golden popcorn statues for their important work as “best villain” and “best kiss.”
As with most red carpets that are skewed towards teens, there were some major misses by so many “stars” we have never actually heard of, but we will skip those in favour of those who hit it out of the park. MTV’s House of Style host Karlie Kloss looked like a smokeshow in a two-piece Cushnie and Ochs ensemble. The white-hot bodycon ensemble was finished off with a pair of Gucci heels. To boot, her new-to-2013 cropped bob was looking superb with an accentuated part. Zoe Saldana also showed off some skin in a Givenchy Fall 2013 (hell yes to friends in high places) look that matched florals with sheer polka dots and a thigh-high slit.
Chloe Grace Moretz was a denim dream in a patchwork Louis Vuitton dress and studded T-strap heels. She kept her beauty on the simple and age-appropriate side with a messy waterfall of curls and fresh faced skin. On the complete flip side, simple was not the name of the game for Selena Gomez who wore an embellished Julien Macdonald mini dress with a bouffant that transitioned into a side-braid.

On the cover: Newcomer Allison Williams talks about Girls, her famous family and saying no to nudity
See our cover shoot »
Read our Girls recaps »It’s 26 minutes and 11 seconds into the third episode of HBO’s Girls. A struggling writer named Hannah Horvath, played by the show’s 26-year-old creator/star, Lena Dunham, is in her bedroom staring at a laptop. She’s just endured the most hellish month of her adult life: Her parents have stopped paying her rent, her doctor has diagnosed her with HPV and her former college boyfriend has let her know that her “handsomeness” helped him realize his attraction to men.
Instead of having a breakdown, Hannah decides to throw down. She double clicks an MP3 of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own,” jumps off her bed and swings her tattooed arms to the gunning beat. Her impeccably put-together roommate, Marnie, played by 24-year-old Allison Williams, catches Hannah’s impromptu dance party and joins in. Together in their tiny Brooklyn apartment they hair-flip the pain away, share a hug and make the tragic magic. The credits roll.

Designer DIY: How to create a peplum in under 30 minutes. No sewing required!
It’s all about the waist this spring with croptops, drop-waists and our favourite look of the moment, the peplum. One particular Cushnie et Ochs look, complete with a slick patent peplum, caught our eye. So we decided to make it, natch (and for a meager $17, too).
