An easy chain-embellished glove DIY inspired by Versace’s “Vunk” collection
From a Met Costume Institute exhibit earlier this year to FASHION’s current cover girl, it’s clear that punk is trending. All year round, designers like Saint Laurent, Rodarte, Jean Paul Gaultier and Junya Watanabe embraced rebellion with biker jackets and grungy accoutrements. Donatella Versace went head over heels for the trend for Fall 2013, even […]

Street Style, Toronto: 21 photos outside the tents
See street style from Toronto Fashion Week »
Despite dipping Toronto temperatures, stylish show attendees were keeping warm and heating up the streets of Toronto on day three of World MasterCard Fashion Week.
From capes to coats, layering was the key to taking outerwear from an essential to a fashion statement. Wooly sweaters and flannel knits were paired with printed jackets, leather toppers and slick pants. Plaid prints were a favourite items among the street style crowd, who did up ’90s style in true Canadian way. The colder weather also prompted a spike in fur coats and collars. Whether real or faux, fur was draped over shoulders, found inside jackets and worn as vests.
When it came to colour, the rainbow effect was the order of the day. Style Blog’s Nelia Belkova radiated warmth with her look: she donned a fuzzy, electric-lime jacket that made her black and yellow floral dress pop. Other notable bursts of colour included Hudson’s Bay Company stripes, a very psychedelic three-piece suit and candy apple red accessories. Whatever the shade worn, it all provided a necessary injection of brightness to counter the grey skies.

Statement accessories for fall: From It bags to strappy shoes, the Style Panel shares must-haves for the season
It’s impossible to deny our dependence on statement accessories when faced with the challenge of upping our outfits. We lay gem packed baubles on our necks, slip into OTT heels and carry the new It bag whenever possible. Say “aye!” if you agree that the bolder, the more vibrant and the more elaborate the accessory, the better.
With this season’s riot girl trend requiring metallic hits and the power skirt suit relying on femme’s demand of opulence, it’s no surprise that the Fall 2013 runways featured many statement accessories. From decadent gold crosses at Dolce & Gabbana, to fur-covered heels at Fendi and a globe shaped purse at Chanel, we love that accessories have morphed into nouveau shapes and textures this season.
And here to help us navigate these new statement accessories is the Style Panel. Barbara Ann Solomon of Barbara Ann’s Style Blog upped the ante on her composed look by slipping into her on-trend plaid Erdem for Nicholas Kirkwood heels. Proving that it’s possible to pair neon and animal print, Becky Kung of Velvet & Vino shared one of her street style looks from New York Fashion Week, and we have to say brava on the lacey neon skirt and studded animal print clutch combo. And a Rebecca Minkoff bag makes a double appearance in this week’s challenge: Anum Khan of SummerXSkin wears the mini Morning After Clutch (M.A.C) in “Bittersweet” while Nicole Wilson of Dainty Girl rocks it in “Port.”
It’s safe to say that our girls are all for accessories that add a little va va to their voom. Keep reading to see all the statement accessories that our Style Panelists are wearing this season.

Street Style, New York: 56 photos of Eva Chen, Susie Bubble, BryanBoy and Rumi Neely outside Spring 2014 fashion week
We’re already more than halfway through New York Fashion Week Spring 2014 (day five to be exact) and the street style stars just keep knocking it out of the park, layer by layer.
While the crop top is certainly a mainstay, our cross border friends proclaimed their love for the Canadian tuxedo. Case in point: this fashion enthusiast who strutted the streets in a full on onesie carrying not one but four 3.1 Phillip Lim shopping bags (We’d love to be her friend).
While fashion show regulars like Caroline Issa and Miroslava Duma flirted with the black and white trend, Man Repeller aka Leandra Medine played with a softer side with a pastel pink oversized blazer.

Fall 2013, Illustrated: Jamie Lee Reardin dreams up 5 of this season’s iconic looks
See Jamie Lee Reardin’s Fall 2013 sketches »
For the fashion-minded folk, fall is the time to go big or go home. It’s the time to fantasize about impossibly elegant wardrobes full of designer duds so delicious that they only exist in your dreams. We’re all about perpetuating fantasy, and today, we’re doing just that with the help of Los Angeles-based and Toronto-born illustrator Jamie Lee Reardin. Known for her leggy drawings of fashion icons for Moda Operandi, V Magazine and Dior Beauty, Reardin took her usual pencils to the next level by illustrating five of Fall 2013’s strongest looks using the insanely cool Windows app, Fresh Paint. The app, which we discovered on HP’s light as a feather Envy x2 tablet while on a trip to Stockholm with Windows earlier this year, allows you to paint on the screen, literally, with the use of sensor-induced paintbrush. It’s like using an oil canvas, but easier!
