Jennifer Lawrence Style: A Chronological Guide to the Star’s Award-Worthy Fashion Moments

To boot, Jennifer Lawrence’s style has evolved from the ill-fitting gowns of her early days to being the face of Dior, one of fashion’s […]

This Actress Was the OG of French Girl Cool
Today we celebrate the life of Stéphane Audran. This is an image from Les Biches, a film by her late husband, Claude Chabrol from 1968. Her spirit lives on. 5 and ‘a Half’ Things We’re Looking Forward to at Paris Fashion Week
When I think of my last trip to Paris, I think of hunger. Literally. Between jet lag, a mild bug I’d picked up in transit, and too many baguettes, I was never with the right plate of food at the right time. What saved me was stumbling upon a weigh-it-yourself Chinese buffet where I ordered a […]

Venice Film Festival 2013: Our top 10 best dressed from the first week of red carpets, parties and photo calls
See the Venice Film Festival 2013 images »
It’s only a week into the 70th annual Venice Film Festival and the stars are bringing their sartorial A-game. To help us keep track of the endless red carpet premieres, photo-calls and press conferences, we’re rounding it up with 10 of our favourite fashion looks so far. With TIFF coming up this week, we’re getting a good idea of what the celebrities are bringing to the red carpet and let’s just say, we’re not worried at all.
We’re used to seeing Sandra Bullock playing it safe with monochromatic tones on the red carpet, and so it was a breath of fresh air to see the Oscar-winning actress in two colourful ensembles last week. Arriving in style, Bullock wore a colourblock dress by Alex Perry and Giuseppe Zanotti heels at the photo call for her film Gravity. Later in the evening, she left us speechless at the opening ceremony in a red strapless silk gown by J. Mendel from the Resort 2014 collection as she completed the outfit with Martin Katz jewellery and Roger Vivier black clutch and ankle-strap sandals.

Kristen Stewart Style: A Chronological Guide to the Star’s Best Fashion Moments
It doesn’t take being a Twihard to be a fan of Kristen Stewart’s style. Since starring in her breakout role as Bella Swan in the first Twilight installment back in 2008, Stewart has gone from awkward late teen to high fashion mainstay. Known for her decidedly anti-glam approach, the actress has been known to turn […]

Isla Fisher vs. Carey Mulligan: Who was best dressed at The Great Gatsby premiere?
See the premiere looks up close »
Given all the high fashion hype surrounding The Great Gatsby, there was no doubt that the celebs that showed up to the film’s premiere last night in New York would look their very best. With an A-list that included not only Hollywood heavyweights (Jennifer Lawrence snuck in after the red carpet), but high-powered moguls as well (think Anna Wintour at one end, and Martha Stewart at the other), there were some serious looks, to say the least.
At the centre, was the film’s star, Carey Mulligan, who channeled none of her alter ego Daisy Buchanan in a sculpted strapless red midi dress by Lanvin and sky-high black Brian Atwood platform sandals. She completed the look with simple, but exquisite jewellery by Tiffany & Co., who, if you need a reminder, are heavily interwoven with the film.
Playing off her feminine side, current FASHION cover girl Isla Fisher stepped out in a floor-length floral gown by Dolce & Gabbana and a Roger Vivier clutch. Bringing a little bit old Hollywood to the carpet, Fisher finished off her look with her signature red hair swept to one side with red lipstick and cat eyeliner.

See-through shoes, snake-print purses and woven wedges: 36 spring accessories that will warm up your wardrobe now
See all 36 must-have Spring 2013 accessories »
If you’re looking to round out your Spring 2013 wardrobe before the thermometer hits a favourable temperature, we have some easy fixes and it’s all about accessories. From peekaboo panels on red leather purses to woven wedges, these on-trend pieces can complete any look.
For Spring 2013 we saw festival style take its place on the runways of Altuzarra and Band of Ousiders, so why not complete your Coachella packing with a woven bangle and wicker clutch? Sun-drenched raffia, wicker and straw are woven into wedges, stacked heels and shopping totes, signalling laid-back summer style. And if you’re not flocking to one of the many summer festivals and want to keep it basic, the new see-through trend is one that will keep you in the clear. Basic accessories have been redefined by giving oxford shoes plastic inserts and chunky heels on strappy sandals have been made see-through. These peekaboo plastic panels lend lightness to polished metallics and patent leathers.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013: Thoughts on Hedi Slimane’s debut for Saint Laurent
Today’s debut of Hedi Slimane for Saint Laurent cast a strange shadow over the entire day. Nothing else seemed to matter. Not Stella McCartney’s micropleated dresses with large blobs of blue, green or orange. Not Clare Waight Keller’s layered tunics and pleated ruffles. Not the sequinned Rorschach splashes on Roger Vivier’s platform mules. Not even Louis Vuitton’s new fine jewelry collection inspired by the locks lovers leave on bridges.
Everyone was counting the hours, waiting for Hedi.
Finally the front row of the Grand Palais filled. Marc Jacobs. Alber Elbaz. Riccardo Tisci. Kate Moss. Salma Hayek. Jessica Chastain.
Historic? You got that right.

TIFF 2012: Dinner with the divine Marion Cotillard in Dior Couture
Divine. There is no other word to describe Marion Cotillard, who floated into last night’s Rust & Bone 2012 Toronto International Film Festival dinner in Look 38, straight off the Dior Haute Couture runway. The tweed strapless dress with back peplum from Raf Simons’s first collection for the house will be a tough red carpet act to follow for stars attending TIFF this year. The dinner, hosted by Moet & Chandon champagne, was held at the subterranean Michael’s on Simcoe St. Cotillard arrived with co-star Matthias Schoenarts before later zipping off to the TIFF film screening at the Elgin theatre. At the dinner, Marion Cotillard politely posed with anyone brave enough to be compared to her aqua blue eyes, rose pink lips and hair swooped up into an elegant wave. Marion Cotillard’s royal blue silk satin slingbacks with yellow tulle trim were a hopeful sign that the skyscraper heel trend is finis (as of TIFF 2012 that is). The needle-toe shoes were set on a low comma heel, an innovation designed by Roger Vivier for Christian Dior back in the ‘50s.

Nail Corner: A glitzy gradient manicure inspired by Roger Vivier’s sequined boots
Sequins, gemstones and bedazzled extras made many an appearance in our Fall 2012 trend report, from accessories to eyebrows. And while we might be waiting for it to get a little cooler before we start donning rich jewel tones, metallic makeup is ideal for an early transition—especially when it’s on your nails. Taking a cue from the sequined sunset on a pair of Roger Vivier boots, this week’s manicure is a glitzy gradient of blues, purples, coppers and gold.
