The week in celebrity style: See who made our top 10 best-dressed list
With summer just around the corner, it seems like celebrities are flaunting their perfect bods for all to see. While crop tops and thigh-high slits do the trick, in our opinion, there’s no better way than to show off than a naked dress. Early last week, Chloe Grace Moretz made headlines at her at the Neighbors 2: Sorority […]

See our red carpet picks for TIFF 2014 »
With TIFF 2014 happening in approximately six weeks (!), we’ve been itching to find out which A-list stars will be making their way into Toronto beginning September 4th. Last year’s film festival hit all the high notes with Hollywood’s very best walking the streets of T.O, but judging by the looks of this list, we bet TIFF 2014 is going to be bigger and better than ever.

TIFF 2013: Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska debut their couple status at The Double’s after-party

In celeb land, sometimes the moment’s there and sometimes it ain’t. And it was most certainly the latter for our friend Kevin Naulls of Toronto Life, who received quite The Social Network-worthy brush off from a one Jesse Eisenberg at last night’s after-party for The Double, a film which he co-stars in with girlfriend Mia Wasikowska. The actor was deep in conversation and was fairly perturbed at the intrusion. He managed pleasantries, albeit curt ones. Guess everyone isn’t a Gay Witch fan?

Chanel Iman versus Mia Wasikowska: Who wore the red dress best?
See the red dress looks up close »
Popular amongst the celebrities at the Venice Film Festival, the colour red was once again a favourite this week. Two ladies in red, Mia Wasikowska and Chanel Iman, took the colour to a new level by showing us that the simpler the dress, the classier the look. Showcasing their amazing figures, these two stars looked romantic and elegant at two different red carpet events.
Globetrotter Mia Wasikowska epitomized effortless style last week at the Venice Film Festival in not one but two monochromatic dresses. But this young star showed us she could rock a brightly-coloured dress too. In Toronto last night for the TIFF 2013 premiere of Only Lovers Left Alive, Wasikowska wore a beautiful red sleeveless column gown by Christian Dior. Pairing her outfit with Brian Atwood heeled sandals, the actress looked statuesque in the form-fitting dress as she smiled to the cameras. Keeping things at a minimal, beauty-wise, Wasikowska wore a fresh, glowing face, neutral pink lips and a messy updo.
Meanwhile, in New York City before all the mayhem of NYFW began, the 2013 Couture Council Artistry of Fashion Award hosted a luncheon to honour Michael Kors. Amongst the stylish attendees was top model Chanel Iman who channeled her inner temptress in a body-con rose-coloured dress by Michael Kors (obviously!) from the Pre-Fall 2013 collection. Featuring a cross back detail, the body-hugging outfit was completed with a simple black leather fold over clutch and black ankle-strapped sandals from the same collection. Similar to Wasikowska, Iman kept her beauty look at a minimum: natural-looking makeup and a sleek hairstyle.

Venice Film Festival 2013: Our top 10 best dressed from the first week of red carpets, parties and photo calls
See the Venice Film Festival 2013 images »
It’s only a week into the 70th annual Venice Film Festival and the stars are bringing their sartorial A-game. To help us keep track of the endless red carpet premieres, photo-calls and press conferences, we’re rounding it up with 10 of our favourite fashion looks so far. With TIFF coming up this week, we’re getting a good idea of what the celebrities are bringing to the red carpet and let’s just say, we’re not worried at all.
We’re used to seeing Sandra Bullock playing it safe with monochromatic tones on the red carpet, and so it was a breath of fresh air to see the Oscar-winning actress in two colourful ensembles last week. Arriving in style, Bullock wore a colourblock dress by Alex Perry and Giuseppe Zanotti heels at the photo call for her film Gravity. Later in the evening, she left us speechless at the opening ceremony in a red strapless silk gown by J. Mendel from the Resort 2014 collection as she completed the outfit with Martin Katz jewellery and Roger Vivier black clutch and ankle-strap sandals.

TIFF 2013: The full list of the stars coming to town (plus, how we may embarrass ourselves in front of them)
It’s here! After about a month of speculation since the Toronto International Film Festival first announced its roster of films, a list of attendees has been released through the festival’s Pinterest page and it’s A-list enough to get your stalking senses tingling. We ain’t even going to try to hide the fact that we become extraordinary (but elegant) creeps during TIFF, so without further ado, here’s our game plan for approaching the biggest and best stars at TIFF 2013.

Pair a Miu and Mia together and what do you get? A sweet new ad campaign and a dance-y video to boot!
We’ve been spotting Miu Miu’s adorably technicolour Spring 2012 ad campaign images starring actress Mia Wasikowska for a while now, but today, the brand upped the cute ante with the release of its printastic video spot featuring the Jane Eyre actress gussied up as a Marie Antoinette-meets-post-mod waving oh so covetable bags at her whim […]

Influential fashion photographer Paolo Roversi on nudity, the value of a good stylist and why logic has no place in creativity
By Sven Schumann
Staunch fans of fashion photography view Paolo Roversi as a one-man revolution. One of the early adopters of the Polaroid, the Italian-born, Paris-based photographer saw the potential in the camera in the ’70s, years before many of his contemporaries did. Using the Polaroid’s filter and frame to accentuate fashion’s most immediate and delicate moments, Roversi’s style of shooting spawned a legion of admirers, including Carine Roitfeld and the late Herb Ritts. After working under Harper’s Bazaar lensman Laurence Sackman during his salad days, Roversi developed his own POV and began to shoot solo for Elle and Dépêche Mode. His work created such a domino effect in fashion photography that his style became the new industry standard in the ’80s and ’90s. Scrolling through paoloroversi.com offers a taste of his influential commercial campaigns for the houses of Giorgio Armani and Romeo Gigli, as well as his contributions to Paris, British and Italian editions of Vogue. Hot on the heels of launching his most recent book of photographs, Paolo Roversi (Thames & Hudson), the 64-year-old visionary sat down at the Camera Work Gallery in Berlin and spoke to FASHION about his iconic visions—past and present.

Vote! Who wore it best at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Emerging Talent awards?
Industry darling Joseph Altuzarra was named the 2011 recipient of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award for emerging talent last night in New York. Altuzarra, known for his complex seaming and fitted pants, won a $300,000 cash prize and a mentorship program from the CFDA’s Business Advisory Committee including Anna Wintour and CFDA president Diane Von Furstenberg. Macabre jeweler Pamela Love and newcomers Shane Gabier and Chris Peters of Creatures of the Wind both won runner up prizes of $100,000 each.
Meanwhile, on the red carpet, the bright young things were out in full American-made force, decked out in everything from fellow nominees Cushnie et Ochs and Suno to the event’s title speaker Calvin Klein. Oh, and Jenna Lyons was there too. (“Nothing to see here, folks!”)

Celeb poll: Who was best dressed at TIFF?
Praise the red carpet gods! The stars really pulled out all the stops this year at TIFF, which was great to see, given some years’ lackluster outings. Lace, length, and print were big trends this year, and so were megawatt designers, from Marisa Tomei‘s Proenza Schouler, to Madonna‘s Tom Ford, to Elizabeth Olsen‘s Erdem. They’re all big winners in our eyes, but if you HAD to choose, who would be your favourite? Vote after the jump!
