This past Sunday, a mixture of Broadway’s finest and Hollywood’s A-list, attended the 2018 Tony Awards, celebrating the accomplishments of the theatre world’s most prestigious stars. Although the weather was gloomy and accompanied by a light sprinkle of rain, it wasn’t enough to dampen the spirited red carpet arrivals. As they say in showbiz, “the […]

Media in Trump’s America: The Film Industry’s Dystopian Take
The thin-skinned once and future reality-TV star wandering around the White House has hijacked 2017. An endless stream of controversial policies and obnoxious remarks directed at women, immigrants, Muslims, Mexicans, LGBTQ people and countless others has triggered a concerted anti-Trump creative resistance. In times like these, some escapist entertainment would totally be justified, but if […]

Bond star Léa Seydoux ended things off as glamorously as she did at the London world premiere, closing things off in a Marilyn Monroe-inspired […]

Feminist films: 9 essentials to bring out the badass in you
We’ve spent a great deal of time complaining about the shortage of strong female leads on the small screen in the supposed Golden Age of television (as much as I love you Don, Walter and Rust). But opening this weekend at theatres is the British film Suffragette, was written and directed by women. Haller! The […]

The week in celebrity style: See who made our top 10 best-dressed list
Legs may be the last body part to bare on our minds with the temperature dropping here up in the north, but looking at this week’s red carpet action, it was definitely not the case for celebrities. Lady Gaga got the Internet buzzing with probably the highest slit we’ve seen on her in ages. The […]

The week in celebrity style: See who made our best-dressed list
Coachella may have finished strong for its second weekend, but with plenty of other star-studded events happening this past week, we’re shifting the focus away from the desert and onto the red carpet. For a handful of Hollywood’s leading ladies, it’s been one appearance after the other this week. Rose Byrne hopped from the Burberry […]

Fashion on film: The 9 best cinematic style moments of 2013
While red carpet celebrities continue to be the ambassadors of choice for luxury brands, big studio film-making was bound to get a little haute with their marketing tie-ins this year, resulting in some of the best on-screen fashion moments we’ve seen in ages. Prada got behind The Great Gatsby and Alexander McQueen dressed Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Meanwhile, Blue Jasmine’s many alcohol-fueled meltdowns were accessorized in everything from Hermès to Louis Vuitton.
Here, we take a look back at the year in cinematic fashion and count down the 9 best fashion on film moments of 2013. There were plenty to choose from:

It’s only a week into the 70th annual Venice Film Festival and the stars are bringing their sartorial A-game. To help us keep track of the endless red carpet premieres, photo-calls and press conferences, we’re rounding it up with 10 of our favourite fashion looks so far. With TIFF coming up this week, we’re getting a good idea of what the celebrities are bringing to the red carpet and let’s just say, we’re not worried at all.
We’re used to seeing Sandra Bullock playing it safe with monochromatic tones on the red carpet, and so it was a breath of fresh air to see the Oscar-winning actress in two colourful ensembles last week. Arriving in style, Bullock wore a colourblock dress by Alex Perry and Giuseppe Zanotti heels at the photo call for her film Gravity. Later in the evening, she left us speechless at the opening ceremony in a red strapless silk gown by J. Mendel from the Resort 2014 collection as she completed the outfit with Martin Katz jewellery and Roger Vivier black clutch and ankle-strap sandals.

And lest you think that a short cut means you’ll no longer have the versatility to change up your style, this slideshow of the best short celebrity hairstyles proves otherwise. From the super short—like Anne Hathaway and Charlize Theron—to Karlie Kloss’s infamous cropped bob and Miley Cyrus’s constantly changing shaved style, we’ve rounded up 10 celebs who not only make short hair look really, really good—they know how to style it for red carpet-worthy events. Click through and don’t blame us if you’re booking a hair cut before you get to the end.
