The Matrix and ’90s Cyberpunk Style Lives On
The Matrix is a fashion film, actually. Since its release in 1999, the dystopian series has had viewers hooked. The sci-fi film — set in a world where humans are unknowingly trapped inside a simulated reality constructed by AI-powered machines — centered protagonist Neo (Canadian actor Keanu Reeves) as he fought alongside a team of […]

SNP’s word of the day: Dude
Word: Dude
Meaning: Slang term for cool guy or cowboy, although meanings have shifted and accumulated over the years.
Usage: “I’m the Dude. So that’s what you call me. That, or His Dudeness… Duder… or El Duderino, if, you know, you’re not into the whole brevity thing.” ― The Dude, in The Big Lebowski

Our 10-minute date with Keanu Reeves
I have still not recovered from my hot date with Keanu Reeves at the Hotel Le Germain last night.
Okay, hot date might be stretching it. But a full-on conversation with a celebrity at TIFF is a rarity – let alone a 10-minute one.
We were in the hotel’s slick dining room, Victor, at a party hosted by Joe Fresh Style and Maple Pictures for The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. The film, directed by Rebecca Miller (frilled out in black and white Topshop), concerns the emotional fall-out when Pippa Lee (Robin Wright Penn) moves to the ’burbs with her recently retired husband.

Gallery: Robin Wright Penn, Keanu Reeves and Rebecca Miller at The Private Lives of Pippa Lee
Robin Wright Penn poured herself into a mini-dress for the TIFF premiere of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. The Rebecca Miller-directed film also stars Winona Ryder (who we hear gives a hilarious performance) and Keanu Reeves, who joined Wright Penn on the red carpet. More pics after the jump.

TIFF news: the InStyle party, Ed Norton snubs the cameras and stars remember Swayze
Matt Damon, Amanda Seyfried, and Colin Farrell were shot by InStyle at the Windsor Arms for the November issue. The magazine’s party at the hotel later that night drew Clive Owen, Robin Wright, Keanu Reeves and Fergie (the royal, not the singer). [WWD] [@mbilodeau]
Ed Norton was none too pleased to see the media at the Cheval after party for his film Leaves of Grass. Norton didn’t walk the red carpet or give the cameras a shot, sneaking into the party inconspicuously. [Toronto Life]
