Michelle Williams vs. Charlize Theron: It’s a headband battle on the Golden Globes red carpet!
So how about those headbands? Michelle Williams, her BFF Busy Philipps, and Charlize Theron were all wearing them last night, making the Golden Globes almost as headwear-focused as an episode of Gossip Girl. While we don’t deny that they’re cute—the perfect accessory for rescuing a bad hair day or adding a punch of quirky style—headbands still seem slightly out of place at top-caliber award shows. Tell us who looks best in a headband by voting below, and let us know in the comments if it’s a red carpet look you’re down with!

Fashion carnival
I first met Christie Clayton when her label, Carny Love (carnylove.com), was chosen as a finalist in the Generation Next competition at BC Fashion Week in April 2008. As part of the judging panel, I was lucky enough to meet the quirky designer and hear about the inspiration for her line, which was only one year old at the time.

With the band
Every morning on my way to work, I stop off at the local coffee shop. Truth be told, I need a serious shot of caffeine before I can think couture. Standing in line, listening to the bountiful beverage preferences, I begin to think about making choices. As we do at Starbucks, over time we tend to develop favourites: clothing, trendy or timeless; men, creative or corporate; lipstick, natural and nude or pucker-up pink. So when designers crowned the newest member of spring’s It list, I made the choice to get with the band…the headband, that is. After all, with the easy, natural hair on the runways this spring, a head-turning band is just the “hairapy” the doctor ordered.
