Lipstick Diaries: 6 trendsetters known for wearing a statement lip share their favourite shades
If the recent runways are any indication, the fixation with rich, outré lip colours isn’t fading anytime soon. From metallic purple (Fendi) to fluoro-pink (Christian Dior) to burning red (Marni), makeup artists have ignited a newfound appreciation for highly individualized hues. Yet for certain style and beauty influencers, a bold swipe of colour across the lips is a defining feature that separates them from the pack. More than a spritz of perfume or a faithful handbag, lipstick conveys the nuances of their personality, making them instantly recognizable. Here, we asked our favourite lipstick devotees to bare all when it comes to their shades and brands of choice, how they discovered their prized hues and their expert application tricks.

The scoop on Chanel’s latest art project and all the celebrities who were there to toast to it in New York
See all the Chanel party attendees! »
The jump from mere popularity to timelessness is a big one, and very rarely does an item cross the gap. The few styles that have become truly timeless (take jeans and the classic white T, for example) usually aren’t solely owned by one brand. The little black jacket, on the other hand, has one very famous creator: Chanel.
To celebrate almost 60 years of LBJs, Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld have collaborated on the book The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s Classic Revisited, which will be released this fall. The book features over 100 images of 109 celebrities, ranging from Monégasque royalty Charlotte Casiraghi to rapper Kanye West, all styled by Carine Roitfeld in Chanel LBJs.

Watch: Sophomore’s spring video starring Chloë Sevigny
Known for her casual-cool clothing label, Sophomore, and her inimitably cool friends, New York-based designer Chrissie Miller just released the video for her spring collection of tees, tanks and cotton separates. Based on Madonna’s classic early ‘90s tour-doc, Truth or Dare, photographer Cass Bird filmed a few of Miller’s closest pals including Chloë Sevigny, Jen Brill and Lesley Arfin playing the game during an evening at the Bowery Hotel in New York. Like the clothes they don in the video, the players are so enviously cool you’ll want to take on a dare or two of your own just to plop on the couch. As for how far Miller herself would go? “In college I was dared to sit on a skateboard down a giant hill! It was so scary but I made it!” she says.
