Our teen dreams looked just like Gia Coppola’s Urban Outfitters lookbook
See Gia Coppola’s Urban Outfitters lookbook »
Urban Outfitters has always been a mecca for cool kids. In its latest spring fever-inducing denim campaign, the brand pits It photographer (and fellow Canadian) Petra Collins alongside model students Sidney Williams (a.k.a. Rodarte warrior princess), Heather Boo, Eliel Ford, Jake Freilich and Ben Watanabe. Their perfect spring picnic of Pringles, Cheetos and Bud Lights is lensed by Gia Coppola, who you might just have heard a little about lately. The well-named rising director is the force beyond the upcoming film Palo Alto which stars James Franco and Emma Roberts and focuses on what else: teens. Amongst the ace hand-picked looks from the shoot, ripped boyfriend jeans, a pastel pink Mack and “Internet” pendant reign supreme.

Wildfox’s Spring 2013 lookbook makes our Clueless dreams come true
See Wildfox’s Spring 2013 Lookbook inspired by Clueless »
If you’ve watched Clueless a few too many times on Netflix (which, by the way, is impossible), relive the magic with Wildfox’s Spring 2013 lookbook inspired by the film. Aptly named “Kids in America,” the editorial answers a firm “neither!” to Cher Horowitz’s “Do you prefer “fashion victim’ or ‘ensembly challenged?”
The Los Angeles-based brand has taken the culture gem straight out of 1995 and into 2013 with new takes on graphic T-shirts, Cher’s iconic red dress and plaid school girl skirts. Our favourite looks and moments from Clueless have been recreated in a completely shoppable way, so needless to say we’re excited.
Wildfox designer Kimberley Gordon wanted to pay homage to Clueless director Amy Heckerling, saying “I was about 12 around when Clueless came out and I was so in love with the characters, I didn’t just love the clothes, I loved the girls who wore the clothes – which made me want to wear them even more” on her site.

Dace’s collection of subtle chic
Dace Moore’s seven-year-old eponymous line, Dace (dace.ca), is an exercise in deceptive simplicity. While no one would call a collection of pencil skirts, silky blouses and slim-cut pants revolutionary, there’s something to be said for chic subtlety–like the cool girl whose outfits never scream, but nevertheless make you ache to know their origin. For example, the Fall 2009 collection features pleated pants in a just-so shade of grey and a blouse with a neck-tie that sweeps to mid-shin with more drama than all the neon in the world could muster.

Renata Morales’ fall line takes a really, really close look at moths
Though we’ve long loved Renata Morales (renatamorales.com), the Montreal designer came screaming back into our consciousness last October with her Spring 2009 show–full of ethereal dresses made of candy floss and the feathers of imaginary birds (we assume). The frocks in Morales’ Fall 2009 collection were inspired macro photographs of moths and rendered with feathers, sequins and knit metal mesh. The tough edge and handmade, demi-couture details make Rodarte an easy comparison, though Morales always seems to take it one step creepier. More images after the jump.
