Dispatch from Milan: The blues (and George Clooney) at Giorgio Armani
It’s the last day of Milan Fashion Week. Am I blue? Not at all, but Giorgio Armani certainly is as he closed the week with a calm, serene show full of dark, inky hues. The collection mixed a new silhouette of short cropped jackets layered over long skirts and dresses, or, sometimes, over shorter skirts and narrow pants. With sheer fabrics, turban hats, flat sandals, a ruffle here and sequins there, Mr. Armani had his audience enraptured. (George Clooney in the front row didn’t hurt.)
Calm seemed to be the word of the day.

Milan street style: Hot pants
This streeter has opted for a striped blazer (as opposed to the near-ubiquitous Breton-striped tee) and paired it with some bright pink trousers that are perfectly on trend with the vibrant pops of colour on the runways of Milan.

Dispatch from Milan: Jil Sander and Max Mara go pop!
POP goes Milan! Shock waves of jolting colour have electrified Milan Fashion Week!
The Jil Sander show on Saturday was an explosion of color and volume and is sure to go down as one of the most important shows of the season. Starting with simple white tees paired with flourescent maxi skirts, the mind-blowing DayGlo combos just kept on coming! Couture silhouettes from the ’50s and ’60s mixed with tailoring and sport-utility touches. Love the fluorescent soles on neutral pumps, the stripes and flouro-florals, and bright nylon shopping bags. Simple, saturated and strong!

Dispatch from Milan: Sunday morning at Marni and finding my dream home at Tod’s
Sunday morning. The sun is streaming into the Villa Necchi Campiglio and I’ve just been handed a perfect cappuccino out by the perfect poolside garden and I allow myself a rare, blissful moment to dream that I’m home…. But alas, someone pinch me: I’m at Tod’s spring presentation, held at the location of Tilda Swinton’s disfunctional family home in the film I Am Love.

Milan street style: Alt rock
While many of us (i.e. me) agonize over what to wear each day there are glamourous women like Paris Vogue‘s fashion director Emmanuelle Alt who seem to possess effortless style. Yes, we know it’s not actually effortless, but still, Alt’s tux jacket and cropped leather pants have a laid back vibe we love. See the full look after the jump.

Dispatch from Milan: A lacy affair at Dolce & Gabbana, plus schoolgirls at Versus, short-sleeve dresses and more
Yank your grandma’s white linen tablecloths off the table! If Dolce & Gabbana have their way, spring will be a lacy white affair with doilies, curtains and table linens doing double duty as pretty, feminine dresses, bloomers, corsets, lady suits and babydolls. The dynamic duo did their favorite silhouettes all in “bianco” lace, embroidery and broderie anglaise. With only a few soft floral prints, a smidge of black lace and some signature leopard prints thrown in the mix, the collection was almost singularly one note–and a clean, fresh and a fabulously feminine, one at that.
