The eyes were impossible to miss at Chanel’s Métiers d’Art show—dark black and deep set, they set the tone of Bombay decadence for the Pre-Fall 2012 collection. Chanel’s creative director of makeup, Peter Philips, created the almond-shaped eye with a new coal-black Illusion d’Ombre shadow, “Nirvana”—part of the exclusive Bombay Express collection due at counters in June 2012. Phillips built an almost-winged shape with the shadow and then used Le Crayon Khol in “Black” to completely line the eye, going from waterline to lower lash line and around the entire lid. The rest of the face was kept very simple, with Rouge Coco Shine in “Empreinte” (from the 2012 Summer collection) on the lips and Joues Contraste powder blush in “Brume d’Or” across the cheeks.

Nail Corner: 3 ways to a glitter mani with the galaxy nail, broken disco ball, and our Britney Spears “Toxic”-inspired design
See how we painted our nails! »
This week in Nail Corner, we’re bringing you glitter in three ways: as an accent, in an artistic design, and in a whole new format. The holiday season is always a great excuse for wearing glitter polish non-stop, especially since almost all the brands include a few glitters in their holiday collections. It also takes the stress out of matching your attire to your manicure—glitter is, in a way, somewhat neutral. (We’re not the only ones who pick an outfit based on our polish, right?) And don’t let the difficulty of removing it get you down: we have a solution. As always, if you like what you see in Nail Corner, have questions, or want to share your own manicure, get in touch through Facebook or Twitter.

Odds were not in favour for The Hunger Games nail polish collection
Popular movies and nail polish collections seem to go hand in hand these days—so it was no surprise when China Glaze announced they’d be releasing an official The Hunger Games collection. See all our top picks from the Daphne Guinness for M.A.C. collection »
Daphne Guinness is (once again) bringing her style to beauty counters with a M.A.C. Cosmetics collaboration. The collection will hit stores on Boxing Day and, because the most fashionable things are only available for a limited time, they’ll be on sale until February 9, 2012. (Though, we suspect they will sell out long before then.)
