I don’t have too much time or money to commit to regular pedicures, so what can I use to keep my feet looking their best?
As indulgent as regular pedicures can be throughout the summer, they can get expensive, not to mention tricky to fit into your schedule between work and play. Fortunately, the Clarisonic Pedi Sonic Foot Transformation System ($230, thebay.com) is a quick addition to your daily shower routine, and it delivers pretty substantial results. The system consists of a sonic device with two interchangeable device heads (one brush for wet/dry buffing, one disc for smoothing calloused areas), foot scrub (full fruit acids), foot balm (no-slip formula with shea butter and honey to hydrate) and foot peel (a fluid full of glycolic and lactic acid to gently break down dead skin cells). It may sound complicated, but it’s as simple as using the buffing brush daily with the scrub in the shower, followed by the balm and applying the foot peel or using the smoothing disc a couple times a week. -
Beauty fix: How to slow hair growth down there, a glow-ensuring face mask and more

Lately, my skin looks dull and tired. How can I make it look more energized?
Fatigued skin looks dull and lacklustre, and that’s usually because it’s lacking proper, restorative rest. If slowing down your schedule to get more rest isn’t an option (it so rarely is!), then make the most out of the sleep you are able to make and try an overnight mask. A substantial layer of a mask such as Lancôme Énergie de Vie Nuit Overnight Recovery Mask ($78, sephora.ca) will work wonders in a short span of time. This particular formula contains hydrating wild yam root extract, rhodiola root extract (helpful for fighting signs of fatigue), and gentiana root extract (radiance-boosting!). A few nights wearing this mask and your skin will appear more energized. -

Afternoon beauty fix: Exploring your pores and how to cure those pesky clogs
My skin is consistently losing a battle against blackheads and whiteheads. Should I be treating each differently—and more importantly, how can I make them disappear? Both blackheads and whiteheads are the result of your skin producing the same thing: sebum (a fancy word for the waxy oil created by your sebaceous glands). It’s how the […]

Afternoon beauty fix: Because sporty doesn’t have to mean spotty
I’ve noticed an influx of blackheads since I started training for a half-marathon. Do I need stronger face wash to combat the sweat? It’s not so much the sweat you need to be concerned about as it is harmful UV rays and clouds of invisible dirt and dust floating around outside. If you’ve ever wondered […]

Afternoon beauty fix: You can blame the baby for your blotchy skin
Once I got pregnant I noticed that my skin tone turned blotchy and uneven. Is there a safe and healthy way to fix this? Aside from exposure to the sun or an adverse reaction to a certain cosmetics, hyper-pigmentation can be caused by an influx of hormonal activity. You can blame the blotchy-ness on your […]
