Thought process of a writer, upon waxing her own face
The following is a stream of consciousness report of writer Kara Crabb’s first dabble with face waxing. Terror, humour and beauty transformations ensue. Do I even need to do this? Is it a statement if I don’t? Maybe I genuinely enjoy removing patches of hair off my body. Maybe I’m not so much conforming to […]

Beauty Confessionals: I learned that Cara Delevingne probably doesn’t wax her brows
A couple of years ago I attempted to do something only highly skilled professionals should be allowed to do—I waxed my own eyebrows. See, this was a sad attempt to save money because at the time I was a starving student and any money I had left over after paying for books, food and rent […]

Waxing 101: Expert Tips on How to Get Super Smooth Legs, Just in Time for Summer
5 products to keep your legs super smooth post-wax »
Some of the best beauty ideas out there are the ones that have been around forever, but you just haven’t tried yet. While I’ve experimented with waxing just about every body part possible, it wasn’t until a friend started raving about her monthly leg waxes that I decided to give it a go. Five sessions later and my skin has never felt smoother. (Also, you know those hard-to-shave spots, like knees and the back of your thighs? You better believe wax can take care of that.)
With summer just around the corner, now’s definitely the time to embrace leg waxing. To make sure you get the most out of your session, I sat down with Florence Gaven, co-owner of Toronto’s Fuzz Wax Bar, to find out her top leg waxing tips.

Is the bush back? Why you should rethink your monthly Brazilian wax
Not ready to let it grow? 5 bush grooming essentials »
I remember my first time. It was over 10 years ago and, like all first times, it’s a bit of a blur. But I do remember that it involved a trim redhead with a thick Scottish burr contemplating my lady garden as she warmed up her little pot of wax.
“Oh, don’t worry,” she said cheerfully. “Your wee man in a boat is safe with me!” And then she weeded my garden thoroughly, and I loved the results. Everything was so tidy! I haven’t gone back to my fully au naturel self below the belt since. What can I say? I’m a woman of the times, and the times said Brazilian, Brazilian, Brazilian.

Afternoon beauty fix: How to rid yourself of post-brow wax bumps
I’ve been waxing my eyebrows for a number of years, but recently I’ve started getting bumps around my brows in the days after a session. Help!
Those little bumps, which don’t always produce sebum like typical acne would, may be a build-up of dead skin cells trapped beneath an aggravated hair follicle. Something similar used to happen to me and I reacted by asking my esthetician to refrain from applying any baby powder or aloe after a wax. -
Afternoon beauty fix: Avoid those annoying red bumps that show up post-wax
I wax at home because it’s more economical—for both my time and money! However, is there anything I can do to minimize the little bumps that show up after the job is done?
When you wax at home you must exercise extra caution with cleanliness—as you know, the bikini area’s an exceptionally sensitive area to irritate. -
They said/We said: Wax off… fur on? The $225 hot pink “Foxy Bikini” wax
The latest trend to compete for the attention of your ladybits is the somewhat horrifying but entirely amusing “Foxy Bikini,” available at New York’s Completely Bare salon. And it should come as no shock that Real Housewives of New York-alumna Cindy Barshop, the creative genius who brought us last year’s vajazzling “trend,” is behind this furry invention.
For an easy $225, Barshop’s staff will wax you fur-less and then re-fur you with a hot pink vintage (uh?) fox-fur merkin. Despite the obvious obstacles, such as putting on pants and taking a shower, Barshop told Fashionista, “I’ve been in the business for so long that I think it’s going to be big for everybody.” Questionable.
