“There is so much that is put into [a photo]: hair, make-up, Photoshop. Hours are put into that one photo. I wish women and girls alike didn’t read into it. It is art. It can be poked and prodded. It’s not exactly what you see,” Coco Rocha told the National Post. [National Post]

Fashion news: Anna Wintour to host Obama for dins, Proenza says cool is “so common,” and Chelsea Clinton wears a floppy hat

image via annadellorusso.com With Lorenzo Martone and Marc Jacobs officially split, the inevitable rebound rumours have transpired. Apparently, Martone has been seen hanging out (which always means canoodling!) with failed spaceman Lance Bass. That’s one heck of a downgrade – Louis Vuitton to *Nsync. [New York Daily News]
Cult fashion icon and Japanese Vogue fashion director, Anna Dello Russo, will be launching her new fragrance, Beyond, just in time for Christmas. The bottle is in the shape of a golden shoe and to celebrate, the cursor on her website has a trail of pretty golden sparkles. [ADR]

Fashion news: Marc and Lorenzo split, Valentino wins a 16-year legal battle and Snooki is the new Liz Taylor

Marc and Lorenzo in happier times. *sniff* Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone are no longer an item. While there may be “break-up rumours were false!” updates–and the inevitable “rumours that the break-up was false, were false!” updates–Martone maintains, via Twitter, that they’ve been split for about two months. So maybe this time it’s for real. Boo. [The Cut]
The much cackled about Snooki, gossip fodder and star of Jersey Shore, has just been compared to Elizabeth Taylor by fashion writer Cathy Horyn. Why? Images of Liz, recently published in Vanity Fair, “confirm a short, busty woman with high hair, big jewelry, garish taste in clothes and a complete indifference to the cyclonic effect that all that produced.” [NYTimes]

Video: Fashion week candy in The Day Before
The Sundance Channel’s series The Day Before, which chronicles the 48 hours before the Fall 2009 shows for Proenza Schouler, Jean Paul Gaultier, Sonia Rykiel, Fendi, premiere tomorrow, but clips are out. While we have a life-long fascination with all things Karl Lagerfeld, our favourite clips are with Gaultier, who gives a charming tour of Paris from the rooftop of his studio.
We never tire of seeing behind-the-scenes candy like this. Karl sketching, assistants aging headbands with cobblestones and close-ups of all the beautifully crafted clothes.
More clips after the jump and even more here . [Fashionologie]
