MMVA 2014: 30 photos of all the best dressed action from last night’s red carpet and show
You know the Much Music Video Awards are in town when Queen Street shuts down for Toronto’s biggest music party of the summer. With a standout lineup of international musicians and Kendall and Kylie Jenner flub-less hosting, there was no doubt MMVA 2014 is becoming a must-watch music award show in the industry. Between the pajama-clad Marianas Trench literally rolling onto the red carpet and Ed Sheeran handing out free food, Toronto’s hottest show was bigger and better than ever.
Kendall and Kylie Jenner proved they were the front-runners of last night’s best-dressed list with the two changing into three eye-catching outfits for the two-hour show. However, leave it to the
KardashiansJenners to know how to get heads turning on the red carpet. While the younger of the two siblings was dressed in a bedazzling orange mini dress, Kendall upped Angelina Jolie’s infamous right leg at the 2012 Oscars, shocking the fans in a Fausto Puglisi dress with slits that went well past her thighs, exposing hip bone. Thanks to the beautiful weather and possibly rolls of double-sided tape, there were no wardrobe malfunctions. -
TIFF 2011: Sam Roberts, The Sheepdogs, and K’NAAN play the Festival Music House
A few nights this week, industry folk turned their attention from TIFF to the stage. The music stage that is. For the second year in a row, the Festival Music House set up shop at the Mod Club to host performances by young and up and coming Canadian musicians. This year, acts performing included K’NAAN, Sam Roberts Band, Rural Alberta Advantage, Lights, Hey Rosetta!, and the recently Rolling Stone-crowned it-band, The Sheepdogs. The music was loud, the crowd was high energy, and the drinks—like at any good party—were free. Other than the homegrown talent themselves, Geoffrey Rush and Tommie-Amber Pirie were the only celeb spottings throughout the three nights. Given stars like RPatz’s proclivities for dive music bars like the Horseshoe, we’re crossing our fingers for some megawattage next time around.
