MMVA 2014 beauty: The 13 best looks from the red carpet
See the 13 best MMVA 2014 beauty looks »
Perfect skin, envy-worthy brows, and perfect lashes: what every woman wants and exactly what we saw all over last night’s MMVA red carpet. Each red carpet makeup look started with a perfect canvas: flawless complexion and defined features (a.k.a serious contouring). If you’re not a makeup guru or tutorial enthusiast, contouring is about using makeup to enhance, or defined features in order to achieve overall skin perfection.
With perfected skin MMVA 2014 attendees played up a different version of the typical smoky eye/ pale lip combo. Unlike the traditional application, this lighter version places emphasis on larger-than-life lashes (instead of heavy shadow) to achieve sultry eyes. Even more eye-emphasis was achieved with full natural brow shapes, in darkened tones. Red carpet Lips were muted with pales tones varying from concealer-esque to soft corals and light pinks.

MMVA 2014: 30 photos of all the best dressed action from last night’s red carpet and show
You know the Much Music Video Awards are in town when Queen Street shuts down for Toronto’s biggest music party of the summer. With a standout lineup of international musicians and Kendall and Kylie Jenner flub-less hosting, there was no doubt MMVA 2014 is becoming a must-watch music award show in the industry. Between the pajama-clad Marianas Trench literally rolling onto the red carpet and Ed Sheeran handing out free food, Toronto’s hottest show was bigger and better than ever.
Kendall and Kylie Jenner proved they were the front-runners of last night’s best-dressed list with the two changing into three eye-catching outfits for the two-hour show. However, leave it to the
KardashiansJenners to know how to get heads turning on the red carpet. While the younger of the two siblings was dressed in a bedazzling orange mini dress, Kendall upped Angelina Jolie’s infamous right leg at the 2012 Oscars, shocking the fans in a Fausto Puglisi dress with slits that went well past her thighs, exposing hip bone. Thanks to the beautiful weather and possibly rolls of double-sided tape, there were no wardrobe malfunctions. -
Inside the Mackage fashion week bash: Brendan Fallis’s tunes make for one sweaty late dance party
See the Mackage after-party pictures »
A sparse wintertime social calendar will do things to a person. Namely, make them want to party. On Wednesday night, spring fever was certainly in the air and Toronto’s most stylish were out for a good time. After the Joe Fresh and Pink Tartan co-hosted party over at Lee restaurant, the gang headed over to The Citizen (formerly Brant House) for a hip-hop throwdown courtesy of Mackage, Maybelline and Redken.
DJ Brendan Fallis a.k.a. 21st century Paul Newman set the stage for one helluva sweaty dance party, swiftly (maybe a little swiftly) blending A$AP Rocky into Lynyrd Skynyrd like woah. (Important note: Beyoncé’s “Drunk in Love” was the only track played in full which kept everything right in the world). Leading the dance pack was Cary Tauben who flitted from group to group with his signature flair. Honourable mentions go to designer Mikhael Kale, Chatelaine editor Tyler Franch and Narrative PR’s Laura Serra for fashionably beating up the beat till the wee hours.

Inside AGO Massive Party: 31 photos of gold dresses, gold glitter, gold jewels, gold body painted models and more!
See the AGO Massive Party photos »
Last night’s Massive Party at the Art Gallery of Ontario was just that. Massive. The ninth annual fundraiser sprawled across much the AGO’s Frank Gehry-fied space with gold glitter, gold jewels, gold-inspired exhibits and even gold body paint on scantily clad models. The theme for the night, if you haven’t guessed by now, was indeed luxury’s finest metal: gold. Inspiring many of the night’s 1,800 attendees to dress their blingiest, gold may as well have been a metaphor for “top tier,” with many of Toronto’s top artists—Maylee Todd, Thrush Holmes and Tibi Tibi Neuspiel to name just a few—participating with one-off installations and performances for the night. Even the night’s curator, multidisciplinary artist Justin Broadbent created exclusive pieces for the event, our favourite being a graffitied “Poor Hipster” painting bookended with gold streamers.
