Dispatch from Milan: The power of the flower at D&G
D&G Spring 2011. Photography by Peter Stigter If the seed package and botanically-inspired invitation wasn’t enough of a clue, D&G‘s garden runway, chock full of fresh roses and peonies, was all you needed to get the theme of their spring collection, and fresh and adorable it was! The message was loud and clear: Life’s a picnic! And why not, when you’re decked out in head-to-toe floral chiffon, gingham head scarves, crocheted lace, brightly-coloured canvas totes, aprons, blooming bloomers, woven gingham wedgies and wellies. Sweet!

Dispatch from Milan: Easy does it at Fendi
Buh-bye to short, tight and aggressive. Spring’s big message is shaping up to be “easy does it” and what’s ruling the runways now is anything long, lean, loose, languid and light! Fendi‘s gorgeous collection was a perfect example of this new feeling: There were sun-drenched, happy colour combos, like blush mixed with salmon, emerald mixed […]

Dispatch from Milan: Bananarama at Prada
PRADA Spring 2011. Photography by Peter Stigter Half the fun and mystery of attending a Prada show is trying to navigate your way to your seat. (This season it was plastic fantastic safety-orange seat covers on plywood bleachers.) The other half is listening to everyone speculate about what Mrs Prada will show (or, immediately after, to try and digest what just whipped down the runway!)

Dispatch from Milan: A YSL state of mind at Gucci
Fashion is in a YSL state of mind this season, and I must admit, after seeing the YSL docmentary L’Amour Fou at TIFF, I’ve caught the bug. Nowhere was this mood felt more strongly than at Gucci’s homage to the designer’s glam ’70s heyday–the sexy sophisticated show took a romp through familiar Saint Laurent territory from the disco, all the way to Marrakesh.

London street style: Blow up
While the New York uniform is heavy on black, London style is heavy on creativity and colour. We love the volume of this gorgeous cobalt blue skirt especially when paired with the large paint splattered bag (is that an inflatable pool toy?). This streeter has us dreaming of Jeannie.

Fashion news: Naomi Campbell celebrates 25 years in fashion, Lara Stone’s breasts star on Paris Vogue cover, and Westwood does watches
Photography by Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images “I am so proud of her, not just because of modeling but for all the work she does for charity. It all comes from a very genuine place, despite her many mishaps shall we say.” Naomi Campbell’s mother Valerie told British Vogue at a party celebrating the iconic model’s 25 years in the modeling industry. [Vogue UK]
Vivienne Westwood watches are coming to a wrist near you now that the British designer just inked a worldwide licensing deal with Zeon Ltd. To design a collection of men’s and women’s watches. [WWD]
Seems like everyone’s still obsessed with Lara Stone’s breasts: The Dutch beauty appears on the cover of Paris Vogue’s mammoth 90th anniversary October issue wearing nothing more than a choker, mask and gloves. [The Cut]
