They said/We said: Here comes the bride, all dressed in… Uggs?
Though Ugg’s latest shoe line is called “I Do Wedding Shoes Collection,” the consensus on the Twitterverse and the rest of the net has been a resounding “I don’t.”
Aimed at the bride who wants “luxury bridal comfort,” the collection’s new line, which is now available in the US and soon in the UK, is the latest in a trend of casual apparel companies offering wedding footwear. Toms Shoes recently came out with a relatively expansive line of wedding shoes, ranging from toddler sizes to more “fancy” takes on their bandage-style shoes for brides.

Fashion news: Lanvin’s spring campaign looks windy, Gaultier does sailor-inspired footwear, smell like Beyoncé, and more
Jamie Bochert is headlining the Lanvin ads for spring 2010. “I thought maybe we need a bit of action,” said artistic director Alber Elbaz. Shot by photographer Steven Meisel, the campaign has Bochert running, bending and dodging in feminine Lanvin ruffles. Bochert also poses over a toilet in Marc Jacobs’ spring campaign. [WWD]
Beyoncé is launching her first fragrance. Heat comes out at the end of January, inspired by all the pyrotechnics a Beyoncé concert demands. “A lot of my performances have had fire involved, so we thought ‘Heat,’” the singer told WWD. Suffice to say, the ads will be steamy. [WWD]

Toronto: Philip Sparks Spring 2010
It was a bittersweet farewell to the Canadian summer last night–it may have been cold in Toronto, but anticipation for next year was already riding high at Philip Sparks’ Spring 2010 collection of menswear. Immediately we were transported to our grandparents’ cabin, pristinely well-kept in classic 1950s Canadiana. The theme was a fishing trip in the Great Canadian wilderness–think seersucker, rain slickers, and the darling little wallpaper illustrations that adorned the printed “Gone Fishing” shirts. This detail popped up a few times: a fabric created in collaboration with textile designer Kerry Croghan that pays homage to Thor Hansen’s folk iconography. The schoolboy style—in rust, blue and green against neutral beiges–paired with flat canvas Toms shoes was enough to draw us into a summertime fantasy where fishing, portaging, and wood chopping are only what comes naturally to us Canucks.

Guelph: Toms brings shoes to kids in need (and right to your door)
I think I’m in love. For the past few months I have been searching for a pair of casual spring shoes, hoping that if I have the shoes, perhaps the snow will melt. I’ve been flip-flopping: Vans or Converse? Chucks? Keds? It’s been so long since I’ve had a good pair of slip-ons…I didn’t know where to turn. And then, in a random conversation with a friend, all sole dilemmas were solved. He told me about Toms Shoes (tomsshoes.com). And my search was over.
