Fashion news: The denim bubble, marathon fashions and Naomi Campbell sued
One of our fave FASHION Lovely/blogger/models, Hanneli Mustaparta has bleached out her brows for a shoot. [@HanneliM]
Surprise! The premium denim market was overinflated. “Charging $600 for jeans for no reason at all — those days are over,” You Nguyen of Levi’s told the New York Times. Ridiculous, right? You can buy a whole Where the Wild Things Are jumpsuit for that. Much more sensible. [NYTimes]

I wanna be a supermodel
The sun was beaming on our shoulders and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, but last week, the real heat was inside Toronto’s Metropolitan Hotel, where 20 girls—including CNTM winner Meaghan Waller–anxiously awaited the start of this year’s installment of Elmer Olsen Models’ Bootcamp 2 Bigtime. Every year, the agency’s top new faces are […]

Culture Jam: The Surreal Life
Back from Barcelona with a taste for the Gaudier things, could I have been happier to find a surrealist menagerie camped out in my own backyard? Not literally, of course, but then nothing’s literal when it comes to Surreal Things, the Art Gallery’s winking look into the dreamworld of Dalí & Co.
The other day, I snuck in for a peek, came out reeling, and can say this and mean it: you must see for yourself.

Paris: Stella McCartney, Giambattista Valli, Viktor & Rolf and Yves Saint Laurent Fall 2009
“God, who are they photographing?” I keep asking, as the crowd of shooters seems rooted to the spot over some unfortunate soul in the front row at Stella McCartney. It’s not Thandie Newton, it’s not Kanye West, it’s not Beth Ditto (who comes in at the very last minute with a six-person entourage). Who could it be? Finally they move away. Oh rigggght. Paul McCartney. That guy.

Daily reads: Beauty tees, pastel pants and a fashion throwdown
Even though it’s a season late, we desperately need this YSL-inspired tee from our favourite teenaged fashion blogger. [Style Rookie]
Giorgio Armani on our second favourite topic: pasta. “On Saturday night, I went to dinner at an Italian restaurant called Scarpetta with my niece Roberta and a small group of my close Italian friends. […] I ate spaghetti con pomodoro and basilico — and, here, I must interject something for your benefit. Americans overcook their pasta. Always. And there’s too much sauce. Too much of everything! Please, try to control yourselves.” [NYTimes]

Paris: October 5
By Rebecca Voight
Wow, it’s Sunday and it’s almost time to say ‘That’s all folks!’
Marc Jacobs had Edith Piaf singing her heart out for one of the best Louis Vuitton collections ever. The mood was titi Parisienne and the models with poodle dos did have what the French call “du chien.” But by the end of the show it was clear Jacobs had set Parisian cheeky chic to an African beat.

Paris: October 2
By Rebecca Voight
Thursday began with Stella McCartney, and she has fantastic friends. The artists Dinos and Jake Chapman painted a bright collage of children and animals as the backdrop for her show. She also has three young children. I mention that because she doesn’t seem to be trailing nannies 24/7 and you have to wonder how she does it.

Paris: September 27 and 28
By Rebecca Voight
It’s blazing Indian summer in Paris, which poses a bit of a problem because the collections kicked off here this weekend. But even a rare sunny day couldn’t keep me away from the Palais de Tokyo, Paris’s contemporary art happening space, where Gareth Pugh posed a series of neon poles for a futuristic show of light and dark with razor sharp tailored armor.
