CIFF: Calgary International Film Festival red carpet pics
Last week at the Calgary International Film Festival (calgaryfilm.com) opening night gala, FASHION and a stylish crowd celebrated the beginning of a 10-day Alberta film frenzy with a red carpet walk, the world-premiere of Jim Cliffe’s déjà vu flick, Donovan’s Echo, and a champagne reception with food truck fare at Eighth Avenue Place.
Veteran actor Bruce Greenwood arrived by limo to help present the film, in which he plays a police officer and friend to another movie-vet, Danny Glover.

CIFF blog: Calgary scores with hockey musical

Not to be outdone by big sister TIFF, the Calgary International Film Festival also netted Score: A Hockey Musical for its opening night gala [see the red carpet from the TIFF premiere]. Directed by Michael McGowan and starring Olivia Newton-John, singer/songwriter Marc Jordan, and newcomers Noah Reid and Allie MacDonald, it’s a musical, complete with singing and dancing, dedicated to our national pastime.

Last night marked the opening of the Calgary International Film Festival and ten days of non-stop movie going and partying. Having attended at least a dozen film fest galas world wide, Jacqueline Dupuis, executive director of CIFF, knows a few things about getting red carpet ready. Luckily she took a few moments out of her over-stressed and over-scheduled life to give me the lowdown on her look for opening night.
