Clogs Are Spring’s New It Shoe
In case you haven’t noticed, clogs are having a moment – and we’re here for it. These ’90s “it shoes” have been popping up everywhere, from runways (Alaïa, Givenchy and Gucci to name a few), to social media, and even on the red carpet (Justin Bieber wore the Balenciaga Hardcrocs to the Grammy’s.) Although they […]

It all started with an article in The New Yorker. In January, Lauren Mechling, a former Vogue staffer, wrote a story for the magazine about embracing the new-found freedom of losing her job by acquiring a pair of No.6 clogs. The purchase of this humble wooden footwear somehow managed to soften the blow of redundancy, ushering […]

The daily steal: T-strap clogs, $36
As the rainy days start to become more frequent, the move to closed-toe shoes becomes more of a practical necessity—enter the clog. There is a plethora of brands doing clogs, but the T-strap detail on this pair ($36, canada.forever21.com) gives a nod to more lady-like forties styles and makes them a little bit different.

The daily steal: Lace-up booties, $65
It’s very rare that a sneaker-ish bootie doesn’t look like it’s having an identity crisis, but methinks this one ($65, aldoshoes.com) pulls it off quite swimmingly. Observe how nicely the colours all blend together and how lovely these would look matched with a pair of slouchy jeans.

When it comes to clogs, go with the Swedes
The New York Times T Magazine blog recently ran a story on Oregon-based “clogmaster” Cecilia Tidlund. Asked what she thought of the sometimes-ridiculous, sometimes-amazing clogs that appeared on the Chanel, Miu Miu, and Louis Vuitton runways, the Swedish founder of one of America’s first bespoke clog companies said, “I’d rather people get into a bad fashion clog than a ballet flat or flip fop. Flimsy shoes are ruining people’s feet. I’ve seen 12 year olds with bunions.”

Fashion news: Marc and Lorenzo still together, former Hermès CEO dies and memories of clogs
When it comes to fashion’s item, we can all breathe a sigh of relief: Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone are still a couple. Rumours were rampant of a break up, but the two recently attended tattoo artist Scott Campbell’s art show opening beaming, hand-in-hand. “They were talking about coming in and getting something together,” said Campbell of the duo. It’s a busy day for new faces on fragrance campaigns: German actress/international superstar Diane Kruger will front Calvin Klein’s newest scent. Meanwhile, Lancôme is doing out with the old and in with the new by replacing Kate Winslet with Penelope Cruz as the face of Trésor. [Fashionista]
When she isn’t cooing audiences with her country/pop hits or having acceptance speeches interrupted by Kanye West, Taylor Swift is off signing up to appear in ads for Cover Girl’s new line of luxury products scheduled to debut January 2011.
