Montreal Fashion Week highlights
The Marché Bonsecours overflowed with Montreal’s fashion crowd who teetered in high-heels over St-Paul Street’s cobblestones to take in three days of Montreal Fashion Week.
On day one, Andy Thê-Anh’s “cocktail” presentation unraveled more like a schmoozy happy hour social than a spring and summer preview. Latecomers tiptoed to catch glimpses of the central stage that doubled as a mini-runway while P&G Beauty reps (in coral mini-togas) served skincare samples on trays like canapés. Known for his sophistication and architectural details, Thê-Anh’s show sparkled (even from a distance) with various shades and intensities of blue paired with neutral white and black.

Denis Gagnon does DIY Aldo
Denis Gagnon presented his Spring 2010 collection yesterday at Montreal Fashion Week (more to come on that soon). The starting point for the line was zippers, a theme blown out on the custom-designed Aldo footwear that Gagnon created with stylist YSO. (Gallery after the jump.)

Toronto: Holt Renfrew Media Cocktail
On Monday night, Holt Renfrew hosted their media/VIP cocktail party, always the kickoff to Toronto Fashion Week. The gotta-get-an-invite party has long been held in the first floor handbag section, but this season, they moved the festivities up to the new third-floor contemporary space. The other change was a mini runway presentation featuring five Canadian […]

David Dixon and Barbie Fall 2009
Rev up your air-kissers: Fashion Week officially got underway with the Holt Renfrew media cocktail party. Upon arrival we took the escalators up to the newly-facelifted third floor–contemporary never looked so chic. The walls have literally been brought down to reveal an au courant open-concept floor plan that highlights many of the lust-worthy labels that even those struck by this downward dog economy still covet.

Montreal: Le tout de Fashion Week parties at Fullum & Holt
A great ending to Montreal Fashion Week: Denis Gagnon’s runway show and after-party at the Fullum & Holt factory last Thursday! After regaining consciousness from the hypnotic and impressive fashion show (read all about it on Shirine’s blog), people woke up slowly to tunes mixed by Thomas Von Party while greeting friends and acquaintances on the temporary catwalk that crossed the factory.

Montreal: Denis Gagnon Fall 2009
Euphoric, apocalyptic, and deliciously luxurious: Last night’s Denis Gagnon show was the highlight of Fashion Week.

Montreal: Fall 2009 Fashion Week preview
The hell with cold! I’m putting on my four-inch heels, my chapka and my fringe skirt for Montreal Fashion Week (March 2 to 5, semainemodemontreal.ca), returning to Marché Bonsecours with a line-up that’s more daring and exciting than ever.

Montreal: Harakiri’s killer jewellery
You know what I can’t get out of my mind? Strange, giant bracelets covered with thorns! Big leaf necklaces! Harakiri’s (harakiridesign.com) work on Denis Gagnon’s latest runway (View a slideshow) show has haunted me like a wild dream of daring accessories coming alive. In order to exorcise my obsession I’ve decided to share it you, dear readers, so everyone can start focusing on what makes a perfect outfit (and what everyone seems to forget): les accessoires, ma chère.

Toronto: Denis Gagnon
{FASHION WEEK SPRING 2009 TORONTO}
By Sarah Casselman
The final day at the tents was an air kissing, Peroni-sipping good time. Yours truly spent time in the sponsor lounge talking accessories (Hermès H bangles) and lingerie (think naughty and nice) with the Agent Provocateur PR rep, Elyn. Despite the long week, I felt energized and could feel the electricity in the air for the long awaited Denis Gagnon spring collection.

Fashion Week follies
It’s been a dizzying and hectic week at the Marché Bonsecours: shows, champagne cocktails (champs + raspberry puree = ecstasy!), and more shows.

Montreal: Fashion week wrap-up
Cold breeze blowing in from the ocean front (alright, alright river front), no parking to be found, girls tripping in the cracks of the old paved street with their high heels, and a hot red carpet inviting us to the Marché Bonsecours: Yep, we’ve made it to another Fashion Week!

Home and away
Aloha!
At this point you’re getting to know me and my obsessions: funky fashion, France (its cakes, luxe, createurs and ironic humeur) and of course, sun and sea. So when I heard that the Bay was launching a new style department, Maison B., which carries hot brands like Tara Jarmon, Andy Thé-Anh and Ça va de Soi, I immediately cancelled my yearly shopping trip to Paris (but not my Grenada escapade!). We definitely need more cool brands like these (and soon, with the new TNT store in Westmount, we’ll be splurging on amazing stuff from my favorite French designers, too, but it’s a secret scoop).
