Ever since Suno was named a finalist in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award in 2011, the label has been one of the newest it-brands of New York fashion. Known for its bold prints and African-inspired looks, it is no wonder that Michelle Obama, Solange Knowles, and Rachel Bilson are all major fans of the label. Now with a new collaboration, you can get the Suno look for a more affordable price tag. The label has teamed up with Uniqlo for a capsule collection of spring clothing.
The collaboration was created in partnership with Suno designers Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty. It includes a range of printed dresses, pastel skirts, striped tops, and floral patterned jeans that are perfect for summer. We love the casual vibe to the collection that is similar to Suno’s main Spring 2013 runway looks.

Ever since we saw a preview of the Mary Katrantzou x Current/Elliott collaboration last fall, we have been anticipating the collection to hit stores. Thankfully, we can now purchase the vibrant, California-cool collection at e-shopping destinations such as Nordstrom and My-Wardrobe.com.
While fans of Mary Katrantzou might think that a denim collection is an odd choice for the London-based designer, the collaboration was actually her idea. Known for her unique prints, Katrantzou typically sends architectural and artsy looks down the runways. But after a critic suggested using denim with her signature digital prints, Katrantzou approached Current/Elliott with the denim designs in mind. The result is a wearable collection of jeans, skirts, tops and dresses with prints inspired by stamped visas, passports, bank notes, and postage stamps.

The complete look book for Prabal Gurung’s collection for Target spring 2013 capsule collection has been released. With only a few months left before Target opens its first Canadian stores, could this be the first Target designer collaboration available for purchase in Canada? We are certainly hopeful. The exciting 80+ piece collection includes dresses, skirts, blouses, and jackets as well as accessories such as sandals, totes, and jewellery made with Gurung’s signature brightly hued and patterned signature.
In preparing the vibrant spring collection, Prabal Gurung was reportedly inspired by romance and “a girl’s journey through the different stages of love.” Fans of Gurung will recognize his graphic flowery prints that have been re-imagined for a more wearable look. “It was an exciting challenge to interpret my aesthetic into a mass-produced product,” Gurung explained to New York Magazine, “but the collection is true to my signature style.”

London Fashion Week will pay tribute to everyone’s favourite cartoon muse
One of the highlights of this year’s London Fashion Week is going to be inspired by an unlikely albeit adorable muse: Minnie Mouse and her famous polka-dotted ensemble will be the sartorial reference point for a whole slew of designers, who will be collaborating on an exclusive line in honour of the fictional mouse.
“Minnie Mouse Must Haves” designs will be unveiled during LFW, with Richard Nicoll, Katie Hillier, Giles Deacon, Terry de Havilland, Lulu Guinness and more contributing Minnie-inspired looks. Like Daisy Duck and the rest of her crew, Minnie had an unmistakable flare for fashion: bows, polka-dotted dresses and white gloves were always in her repertoire (not to mention her big, round ears), so expect the dot trend to hold strong on the spring 2013 runway.

The skinny on Narciso Rodriguez’s new role for Banana Republic
After spending the summer wrapping up a line for Kohl’s, relaunching his shoe line and sitting at the helm of his own fashion label, you’d think Narciso Rodriguez would want to take a little breather for a day or two. Instead, Banana Republic has just announced that the busy-bee designer will be starting a specially created advisory role with the retailer this Monday. The new position will have Rodriguez collaborating with Banana Republic creative director and executive VP of design Simon Kneen.

They said/We said: Is Maison Martin Margiela going to be H&M’s next designer collaboration?
In news that will undoubtedly set many fashion hearts aflutter, H&M’s next collaboration is rumoured to be with none other than the Paris-based Maison Martin Margiela.
Though WWD admitted that the Swedish retail giant has neither confirmed nor denied the rumours, they said they have it on good authority that H&M will be announcing the one-off holiday collection collaboration “soon.”

While the rumour of H&M opening a high-end chain of stores has been circulating for less than a week, it feels like we’ve been waiting forever for the Swedish retailer to confirm or deny it. And today there’s finally been some progress: H&M’s CEO, Karl-Johan Persson, announced that they are indeed launching a completely new chain of stores in 2013.

Versace for H&M: We grapple with the news and show you images of the collection!
The brand with the propensity for making expensive look cheap has gone, well, cheap. Today H&M announced that Versace will be its next designer collaboration, and we can’t help but wonder, isn’t the point of Versace that it made its name defending tacky chic? (That itty-bitty mini exposing everything has been sewn with the highest level of craftsmanship and made with the finest Italian fabrics.) This collab could go so many different ways, and we’re praying for directional. Spring’s edgy technicolour zigzags, for example, would look unreal on the selling floor, as would a revival of some offbeat ’90s Gianni-isms, but a sexed-up red-carpet multi-layered goddess gown? Lost in translation. Judging by the images released with this morning’s announcement, the collection is looking fabulous so far. We’re crossing our fingers that the rest follows suit.
The collection, available on November 17, promises to include several iconic womenswear and menswear pieces in colourful prints, gold and leather, as well as jewellery and home furnishings. Donatella Versace will also create a pre-Spring collection, which will be exclusively available online from January 19, 2012. We suggest setting multiple calendar alerts, like, right NOW!
