The scoop on Anne Hathaway’s Valentino wedding dress (and headband!) Plus, additional Blake Lively bridal details
This summer it felt like the wedding bells kept ringing, and ringing, and ringing and, oh you get the picture. It was a big summer for celebrities like Natalie Portman who tied the knot with French choreographer and Black Swan co-star and Drew Barrymore who married art consultant Will Kopelman. Even our favourite Man Repeller, Leandra Medine, locked it down with longtime on and off boyfriend Abe Cohen.
On the long list of summer celebrity weddings, Blake Lively and Anne Hathaway were some of the most talked about. Mouths were agape when it was revealed Lively didn’t wear Chanel OR Gucci when secretly marrying Ryan Reynolds. She opted to wear a custom made Marchesa gown (not too shabby).

From runways to astroturf: Marchesa’s doing a designer collaboration with… the NFL?
Though football apparel doesn’t usually bring to mind thoughts of high-end fashion, that notion is about to change. The NFL is taking on the boys-only mentality of the league’s fandom by focusing on women’s apparel, including a collaboration with Marchesa.

Ornate jackets for everyday? Marchesa is rumoured to launch a contemporary sister line
We turn green with envy almost every time a Marchesa dress hits the red carpet (Jennifer Lawrence, anyone?). So when we heard rumblings of designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig launching a contemporary sister line we did a major happy dance. For now it’s all very hush-hush but it looks like the new line will […]

Project Runway All Stars recap: The 5 remaining designers are challenged to turn garbage into black light costumes
After nearly an entire season, the five remaining All Stars return to their roots (i.e. episode 1) and are asked to participate in another garbage challenge—although now they get to use expensive garbage that lights up! What does it mean when a challenge is so transparently about the novelty of doing a black light show? I worry next week’s pre-Fashion Week final challenge will be all about making fabulous pantsuits out of lasers.

Project Runway All Stars recap: Our feelings on Michael’s win, Miss Piggy’s karate chop, Mondo’s lollipop necklace, and Gordana’s cheerful loss
After last week’s suspiciously reasonable challenge, I worried about what the All Stars were going to have to reckon with next time around. Lo, my instincts proved accurate, for this week’s challenge must be one of, if not the most, spirit-crushing challenges in Project Runway’s sordid history.

Project Runway All Stars recap: Our feelings on Austin’s win, April’s blood ombré, Kara’s hand gestures, and Georgina Chapman’s nude lipstick
As I crawled into my burrow to watch this week’s All Stars, it occurred to me that I was perhaps approaching the new/old cast with too much unwarranted resentment. I know that you know just how difficult it is to resuscitate an old love for the formerly eliminated—that’s why we appreciate being given a blank slate with each new season of Project Runway Old School. This week was a lesson in moving on, not just for me, but for the contestants. Really, it’s not so difficult to see one another with fresh eyes! All that’s needed are new bangs, and the most affecting change of all: editing.

Project Runway All Stars recap: We chart our feelings throughout the best and worst moments from the premiere
In the New Testament world of Project Runway All Stars, losers from seasons past are being judged anew. Eleven of the contestants will be deemed unworthy for a second time*, and one will claw his or her way to redemption—and a brand new technology suite from HP! Is it worth it? I can’t tell. Now, into the tense and cosseted world of Project Runway All Stars!
*Technically, Anthony has already lost twice, bless his heart.

NYFW diary: Marchesa meets Great Expectations
Only Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Karen Craig could make Miss Havisham look haute (oh to be a wealthy spinster living in a dilapidated mansion). For fall, the duo drew inspiration from David Leon’s 1946 film version of Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations. Amidst all of the usual tulle, light-as-air layers and long pooling silhouettes, they created a fresh spin using exaggerated Victorian shapes, dusty, antique accents and unexpected new pieces (snakeskin print leggings).

Fashion news: Janelle + Karl, more princess dress speculation and Rumer Willis for Badgley Mischka
R&B singer Janelle Monáe met the Kaiser himself, Karl Lagerfeld, backstage at her December 1 concert in Moscow where the two discussed their love of black and white. “I’m a black and white person,” Lagerfeld responded when Monae asked him how he felt about the hues. Illuminating. [Styleite]
New details have been released about Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s upcoming spring wedding including information about the dress (she will choose a “little known” British designer), wedding procession, ceremony and reception. Oh, and FYI: It’s Catherine Middleton to you. [Huffington Post]
