  • Edmonton: Bustiers, knickers, garters and dessert

On a recent trip to my local organic grocery store I saw a sign that read, “Feeling good starts on the inside.” While most people read this phrase and think to themselves, “must eat more fruit and veggies,” diehard fashionistas stop dead in their tracks, turn around and head straight for Night Owl Imports (10180 101st St., 780-423-7757, nightowlimports.com), a well-known designer lingerie boutique and purveyor of all things lace, silk and satin.

  • Saskatoon: A clutch of parties

The holiday season is upon us and there is no time I love more than Christmas.  I love it all: the busyness, shopping, baking, shopping, decorating, shopping and music. It’s also the time of year when the most glitz and glamour emerges from our closets (and we search for some new head turners).

  • Pop goes the city

If you were wondering why Montreal was invaded by so many hipsters last week, I have the answer: Pop Montreal (popmontreal.com).

  • Guelph: Cosmos on a Sunday afternoon

Sometimes there just aren’t enough stylish events happening in Guelph.  But when a dry spell hits, a few dedicated fashion advocates step in to create some fashionable fun. This week marked the DVD release of the Sex and the City movie and with a screening at the Bookshelf Cinema downtown (41 Quebec Street, bookshelf.ca), there was no better time to throw a party. Though the movie debuted in theatres months ago, a group of fabulous folks jumped at the chance to celebrate, but this time with cosmos in hand.

  • Montreal: Pop up fashion

My favorite festival is finally heading our way! The ever expanding Pop Montréal (October 1-5, popmontreal.com) will strike again from this year, invading the streets, bars and churches with music, film, art and of course—our reason to live—fashion. Aside from the shows I can’t wait to attend, Puces Pop, the fashion branch of the festivities is presenting many events to prove once again that music and fashion don’t just have a fling, but a marriage.

  • Winnipeg: Sex and the District

One of my favorite areas of the city is the Exchange District. Cobblestone streets wrap around its old historic buildings and a park sits quietly in the middle of its busy intersections. And when the sun is setting, it paints everything a dusty pink. While the area isn’t known for its wild nightlife there is one night of the year when nothing closes, the streets fill with people and music and everything comes alive.

  • Back to school

This chilly breeze, the urgent emails coming in madly, the end of half-day Fridays: Like it or not, it’s time to stop the partying and lingering and to get the schedule back on (crazy) track.

But before I can make an appearance at all the events (the Browns fashion show, Ogilvy’s shoe department launch, lunches, cocktail parties, there’s so much to do!) I seriously need to get rid of the summer’s laisser-aller beauty regimen.

  • Toronto: Lovesick and swooning

Canada’s most anticipated music event, the Virgin Festival took place on Toronto Island over the weekend. Against the backdrop of the city skyline and the scent of lake water was a sea of nodding heads, swaying arms and screaming fans leaping across blankets of mud and grass.

  • Style festival

FASHION spent the weekend at the Virgin Festival and between the Constantines, Foo Fighters, Moby and the Oasis dust-up, we managed to capture the best of festival style. Click here to see some of our favourite looks.

  • Showmance

With the first half of our fashionable summer filled with patio dining and light beer, we had a little love affair with the cocktail this past weekend. Another perk of the job, I was invited to the fifth annual Drinks Show, held at the Queen Elizabeth Building at Exhibition Place. At this year’s show there were over 100 gourmet cocktails to choose from. Upon meeting the Martini Club’s Michelle Hunt, co-founder of the Drinks Show, she whisked me to the whiskey booth where we tried the Mint Divine, which had Crown Royal Special Reserve shaken with fresh mint and lemonade and sprinkled with wild blueberries. Move over Corona, there’s a new bevvie in my town.
